It involved numerous court room hours before she was instated, into the Fo seat but not sure if u are talking about this same woman, outlined nicely in the "Ansett the Collapse", All im saying is that woman have traditionally had a hard time in aviation, but i agree this is not necesarily called for.

It's really sad that you should even have to ask the question, welcome and go for it, you will meet many life long friends here.
I didn't find out that a HNL/SYD flight I was passengering on had an ALL female crew, tech and cabin, until it was reported by the media the next day as if it were something "special". I guess it was then, but that was well over 15 years ago.
I know the aircraft remained totally unaware.
Women are much better multi-taskers, CRMs and at "seeing" things than men. ask my wife and the princesses Woomera.

My last BFR was conducted with a female instructor, she was early 20's! hours in the 1000's and a good instructor!
funny the number of replies on here encouraging her, but if it was a young man with the same question, the replies would be much different, mainly a lot more negative comments on the indusrty.... hmmmmm.
just a warning, a lot of pilots are single, (such is the lifestyle in GA, no money, and always moving) and they WILL want something in return..

Well, I wish I'd been following this forum from the beginning. Very entertaining watching all you guys trip over yourselves to help. How's your eyesight? Going blind yet?
Apart from all the flirting bull****, I agree with most sentiments.
Anna, beware of shiny pilots bearing gifts of advice. It's usually all bollocks. You make your own luck in this industry.
I wish you all the best.

Hi Anna
If this has been your life time dream, dont ever let anyone stand in your way from achieving it. I guarantee once you start you'll be hooked.
Like others have mentioned get all your subjects, especially the ATPL out of the way while you are still in the study mode.
Good luck

Anna,
One honest word of advice,
Learn to fly at a flying school that has the ability to give a job at the end of your training. I would advise that Bankstown is not really the place to start. (alot of false promises).
The easy part is learning to fly, getting your first job.....is entirely diiferent. If your going to spend the money choose wisely.
Good luck.

Anna,
I was 5 when daddy put me on a single engine joy ride that gave me the dream to fly the blue sky. Today I have 7000+ jet hours. Joined the airline as cadet, flown 737,A330,B777 and back on 737 as commander. Dreams do come through.
Just a suggestion for you to consider. The Malaysian budget airline is taking in cadet to be FO,some young Malaysian girls are in. Give it a try, with or without your CPL/IR. This is one of the shortest way to fly a B737-300. PM me if you're interested,I'll try to find more info for you.Try this http://www.airasia.com. They have pilots of all nationality. ( I hope you like RED)
Be prepare to work abroad if you wanna fly airline jet.
Good luck!
Flightleader.

GO GIRL!
Good for you Splannie!
I'd follow the advice on getting your PPL first.
I really believe if you are passionate about flying you will be successful.
I got into the airforce when I finished school but unfortunately failed the medical.
I was sadly lacking in the vision department.
I wish I had started earlier.
Now as a 36 year old single mum, I started to learn to fly this year. Iwill be finished my ATPL subjects by April next year, at age 37.
I'll have finally completed a dream I've had since I was 15.
I've been in aviation since I finished my Science degree at 19, in a cabin crew capacity.
If you're looking for good money to pay for your flying and the flexibilty to get some hours in, it's not a bad idea to get yourself a cabin crew position.
There are also two fabulous resources sitting in the front left and right hand seats.
I drive them nuts with my questions but I've yet to meet a pilot who doesn't like to talk about flying.
And after starting myself.... I now know why!
DUDE 65
I'm close to your age and have every intention of finding employment. I don't think age is the huge barrier it once was.
If you can afford it, get your CPL!

Reference the flying journals...
Flight International is pretty much an Industry cornerstone. This comes out weekly and has a world vision/coverage.
Air Transport World is another, specialising in the Airline scene, worldwide. This comes out monthly and is approx $16 at your newsagent. The website is good as a homepage as it has daily updates of all the news.
Australia circulars are many, depending on your focus.
Australian Aviation would be the one that may interest.
Asia Pacific Aviation News is a newspaper type circular, informative on the whole industry.
There are also others that specialise in the "How to" fields, for aspiring pilots.
A large newsagent would cover most of these and more.
Hope this assists.

Sad really how this thread was dead and buried nearly a year ago and has now resurfaced with even more anal advice!
Someone mentioned earlier that a lot of male pilots are single due to the hard rigors of moving locations, working for no money and having to face up to the daily challenges of manipulating complex machinery leaving not much time to contemplate looking for a breeding partner.
Personality is the biggest hindrance to the majority of young male pilots looking to secure female company.
As has also been mentioned above my point is reinforced by the hoards of anal male pilots throwing their advice and giving encouragement just because a girl has asked the question.
Now, I welcome with open arms all of those bitter hard hitting responses accusing me of not being a real pilot, having no clue because I must of missed out on a flying career blah blah blah.
Bring it on; it further exposes the fragile egos so many pilots possess!

G'day Anna
3 daughters. daughter 2 = pilot; daughter 3 = pilot. where did i go wrong with daughter 1? i blame it all on mrs "E" 'cos she's a "gurl".
dreams come true. fly red rat, learn to like fish and only drink tooheys... what other people do with water does not bear thinking about. what about "vb"? personally i think it is either tasteless yellow liquid with bubbles in it or else is awful beer. so final advice... fly red rat or be happy, you can't have both. either one but i prefer option1. red rat rules, okay?
flying? see yuh in the victoria, moonan flat, most third sundays. i'll be the one with grey hair and loads of kids and a big contented smile. it comes with the best job in the world and when your kids are proud to say what you do to put food on the table and under the table (dog is bruce and cats are all named after airbases) you are prouder still.
mrs "e" by the way hates flying. no accounting for taste, that's why she married me. that'd be my only other bit of advice besides flying, find someone really really nice and be mates for ever.
so i'll tip my hat and say g'day, welcome to the land where people really like fish.
