Anindilyakwa Air CLOSED.

To all ex Darwinites you may find this interesting.

Anindilyakwa Air ceased operations around 1 week ago.

I can see the vultures from here flocking to pick up the pieces. Both aircraft and routes!

It's a dog eat dog world up there.

Sad to see what was once a fine company in ruins.

Well apparently Honky- everybodys favourite ex-CP is trying to set up an operation near the old Eastlands hangar... This is whilst still being across the tarmac! God help all poor newbie souls eventually employed for them.

Very upsetting

It’s not right!
Firstly, for the poor fellas that are without work now, some good blokes worked on Groote and in Darwin.

Secondly, as someone mentioned the vultures there to pick up the work. Its wrong when a company like waks waks who actually paid pilots correctly and looked after there employees/aircraft are driven into the ground by undercutting operators.

Good luck finding work guys.

When I arrived in Darwin, Wak Wak's were THE GA company to work for. Its a shame 3 1/2 years later they are in this position. Good luck to all the guys/gals seeking further employment.

I also have on reliable sources that Shonky recently contacted ETA regarding a 737 endorsement... Deduce what you will from that.

Unhappy

Yes

a very sad day for this company, having worked for the company for 3 years time to say goodbye. Thanks to former 'CEO' CD and late management ie ops, drove it to the ground. As usual a lot of internal management problems caused the demise of AA. Sounds familiar!
AA was the company to work for 3 years ago and had potential to go further sucessfully but had beancounters in the 'hotseat' who knew nothing of running an aviation business or people.
End of the day, paid well, good aircraft to fly and a lot of memorable experiences. To the guys out there that are left without work, GOOD LUCK and stay positive!!

A truely sad day.
By far one of the best GA operators there was.
Gave upgrades to twins, base changes etc if you put in the work and showed loyalty. Payed pretty well and had grenerally good conditions all round. Most of all, the people there were great. HOW could this happen? They were once one of the richest land council flying operators around.
Very sad news!

Didn't AA also have a base at Borroloola as well a few years back?.

Took over/bought out an operator based there?.

WS was Chief over 12 months ago and was ex Kendal, took redundancy when company downsized. Now driving trucks I believe. Last Chief Pilot was SW, a long timer with AA.

Sad to see such a great company land at a drastic decision such as this.

Good luck to all who worked there... I hope all goes well for you all.

Interesting posts. But it looks like Sphoiler hit the nail on the head. You could not possibly blame original or current management for the demise, as stated it was "the" company in the late 90's. It shows how tough an industry it is. If the richest Aboriginal group in Australia decide that GA is too hard to make a return on investment. The sad part is that white fella ripped off black fella again being the CD management era. Same thing happened to Air N if you read alot of previous proon posts but they kept going after changing it from Kiwi land.

As a limited poster and long term reader Darwin seems just as volatile as anywhere else in aviation. It does seem though as one operator closes another opens, the grapevine says that Barrier Aviation is starting in Darwin, although that rumor has been milling for some time. There is also the rumor of Tiwi Travel oh and the rumor of Sunshine something? Sounds like interesting times in Darwin.

Hardy, NAC & AF are the only non Aboriginally backed GA outfits and they seem to be sticking in there.

Time goes on and the only thing that changes are the faces.
