Engine failure @ YLHR?

Heard on the grapevine that a single engine aircraft had an engine failure overhead Lockhart River, FNQ. Happened on Tuesday?

Everything must have gone well as it didn't make the news. Anyone else heard about this?

Great Effort

VH-TCL, Pan Call, rough running engine, cowl flapping in airstream.

9nm from YLHR, straight in approach rwy 30 with 15kts tw.

engine seized totally just after touchdown. exit wounds in lh cowl where cylinder departed engine and airframe (middle cyl, lh side).

Cylinder still missing, cowling blasted outward, lucky to be within forced landing range of YLHR, previously over Princess Charlotte Bay with few options available, professional outcome.

Lady luck and good emergency procedures saved the day.

Live crayfish destination for pickup, IFR 206, s*#t happens.,

That aircraft would have needed critical care in a hospital to keep it running any longer than it did........what a lovely scar on the cowl and engine

The aircraft otherwise looked in great shape, so well done to the pilot

.......Lady Luck was smiling that day
