In Need of Opinions~ pls help
Hi guys, am writing in frm singapore. I am hoping to do my flight training in NZ and also getting a degree at the same time. Anyone have any good schools to recoomend? I heard some good stuff abt Massey University Aviation program... anyone can verify it? hmmm pls help... thank you in advance!!
I take it Lava that you have considered applying to SIA as a cadet pilot? BTW do a search on Massey Aviation program in this forum. Lots of postings over the years about it. That may help you make up your mind.

Hello Lava,
I'm afraid I only ever heard bad things about Massey.
On the other hand may I highly reccommend Wakatipu Aero Club in Queenstown. I have had a very pleasurable time there. The instruction is of the highest quality, the staff are very friendly, the planes well maintained, and it is located in the most spectacular and challenging location.
You need a visitors visa to get started, and then as there is a shortage of workers here it is easy to get a work permit and a job to get you through. Once qualified with a CPL, you can get work flying tourists to Milford Sound and around the area, plus there are opportunities with the aerobatics Pitts special, and Parachute jump plane.
Best Wishes

If your after a degree to take home to a job you may have lined up you will probabley be better of at the bigger schools such as IAANZ, AFS and Massey. They can usually arrange your visa's and accommadation for you and they generally have more foriegn students than the aeroclubs which will make things more familiar for you if your off overseas by yourself for the first time.
All the best anyway.

Thanks a million guys!
Wld like to thank you guys for responding. I have been browsing thru the forum and read some nasty remarks abt Massey. Feeling kinda disheartened cos MAsseyis the only school that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the CAAS (Singapore) ..not sure if they have any links with SIA though. Any one in MAssey care to enlightened me how the situation in the school really is? Thank you once again...
