Flying School Recommendation? SE QLD for CPL & CIR
Could someone please recommend a good flying school at Archerfield or Coolangatta for CPL and Command Instrument Rating?
I'm not fussed about the theory part because I'm thinking of using Bob Tait's books to do self-study and give it a shot, but I need some recommendation for the flying part.
I've done a search but I haven't managed to find much information (maybe I didn't get the search term right...).
Your help would be most appreciated.

I would try Arena Aviation at Archerfield. They have trained alot of pilots who are now out their in GA, about to make it to the airlines or are in the airlines. Give them a call 07-32776566. Sim part of it is done with an ex QF Check and Training Captain who shows you how it is supposed to be done. Good luck with your decision.

Bog Boy,
be sure to go to this thread before considering Arena.
Arena thread.
I spent ALOT of time researching after the thieves took my money and I can tell you,
at Archerfield Flight Training Aust is certainly best.
But Air Gold Coast and Greg Cornell are simply unmatched. The best flight training in SE Qld.
And no, I don't work for them.
Good Luck...

I did CPL at Redcliffe Aeroclub and the theory via bob Taits texts (self-study & 1st time pass). I can recommend both. For the CIR I self-studied ATCs CIR text (Bob didn't have a CIR text then) & passed 1st go. For the practical component I went to Rick Wedgewood at Caboolture & I can also recommend him. Others worthy of note (ie where i have spent my hard-earned and been happy with the result) include Darling Downs Aero Club and Aircrew Check & Training (Armidale).
I personally am not a fan of any of the AF crowd, having done CIR renewals at a coupla places there. Greg Cornell is a nice chap and likes what he does - although I've not trained with him.
Good luck with your training.
