CASA Schedule 5 - Bonanzas
One for the engineer types...
Does anyone know what is happening to the maintenance system regarding Schedule 5?
I'm thinking of buying a Bonanza - most seem to have been maintained to Schedule 5 but not necessarily including all manufacturers recommendations, unless A/D's. I'm told CASA are about to change all of that and mandate all manufacturers recommendations. If so, most Bonanzas will need lots of time-lifed components (e.g. gear motors, flap motors, cables, gearboxes etc) either overhauling or replacing immediately. Seems like this could be very bad news for owners of Barons and Bonanzas? If none of it has been done to manufacturers spec, what would be a rough estimate of what it would cost to bring the average Bonanza up to speed? (Yeah Yeah, I know, 'it depends' - but if anyone can help me understand the extent of this issue, I would be most grateful.)
