Virgin V's Qantas

Gday lads (and ladies).

Not interested in talking about aviation garbage. The NAS, the us v's them tripe in here is about as much as my stomach can handle.

I have been talking to some QF and DJ mates about a competition with a slight difference. I used to do these years ago (not with much success but great fun all the same). It will have to be in Brisbane to start off with however transgression into another ZONE may be possible in the future.

We will start at the Breaky Creek hotel at 10.00am. All competitors will consume 1 (one) PINT "off the wood". We shall then run to the Hammo hotel (which is not that far away) and consume 1 pint of Guinness. We shall then run back to the breaky creek hotel (on the opposite side of the road to avoid swinging elbows etc) and consume one more pint of lager.

No regurgitation within 5 mins of arrival time back at breaky creek. On completion we can all sit down and tell each other what we think of each other (in a jocular fashion of course).

The competition will take place on THURSDAY 1ST APRIL (APRIL FOOLS DAY) 2004 and as stated at 10.00am. Shouldn't take the lowest common denominator more then 2 hours to finish before 12.

At Virgin we have a few lads who are more than qualified for this showdown, just as there are at QF. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to all the troops in GA in addition to engineering lads. Please feel free to join in.

You have 2 1/2 months to get in shape so get into it and hopefully we can extract some new talent for future discussion.

(Hope the username doesn't put you off) Cheers. (Slainte).

Why run?

I can't believe you want to run between the Hammo and the Brekky Creek.

Whats wrong with just around the car park at the Brekky Creek, or even between the front and back bars.

If you've got to race between the Hammo and the Brekky Creek, how about on 50cc scooters?

Nothing worse than spoiling the taste of good beer by exercising.

By the way will there be a book on the race. I'll have a lazy 50 on virgin, unless my cousin from Qantas runs (he's a bit of an athlete).

Talking

How about each team brings their own cheerleaders (FA's) as well. I'm sure this will draw alot more attention to the event, but I know which team I'd be watching!

Some good ideas there Pierre. But if we stipulate running (or walking) I wont be hassled by some neanderthal in an insurance company for public liability when an unfit persons heart gives up the ghost.

Sheep, sounds good mate. The more participation the keener the competition. I would also like to see operations/rostering etc get involved.

Wemac, cheer leaders (as beautiful as they are from both sides) are more than welcome. However there must be a drinkers clause binding on all participants and observers. "No consumption=No admission".

Perhaps Mr Wirraway could report on the event and take some selective photographs (for our eyes only!). Additionally we could ask one, some or all of the Woomeras to join in. Nothing like having a bit of dirt on a moderator!

Crikey...

I think I would have to fly down from Darwin to represent GA if that was the case...

Mmm no F/A's in GA... I'm sure we could organise some nice promo girls in skimpy tops instead...

Nothing fires me up quiet like a beer drinking challenge...

(Footy team record held... 7 VB shotguns in a row...)

Tks sheep.

Woomera, if the lads are overweight with a big gut, that is just a bit of bad luck (management).

We could compensate for age however. Say 50 and over leave at 10:00. 40 to 49 leave at 10:05. 30 to 39 at 10:10 and under 30's at 10:15. (females as they wish!).

Someone suggested a canoe as another means., whilst another fellow offered to run a speed boat shuttle for $5.00 per head return...Whatever tickles your fancy I guess. I have a few weeks leave coming up so intend to get a bit of practice.

Slainte!
