decision time.... help!
i'm after a little advice from some older/wiser heads who have been around longer than i!
i'm at that inevitable fork in the road..... usual story, just completed CPL, 200ish hours, NVFR, multi endorsed, aerobatics, blah blah blah....
i now need to decide whether to pursue an instructor rating, or an instrument rating?!
pros and cons of both options?

Me personally, I opted for the IFR, I figured I'd need it at some stage. (As it turned out, at around 400 hrs TT) Plus I had the view that, who was I with 170TT to be teaching others to fly, AND after trying to teach the ex to drive, well, thats a long story...

Speak to Spike007 at the Murray Bridge Flying School... he will set you on the right path! He has both and he works for free! But since he is supported by his loving parents, who cares? And his boss is laughing to the bank - He believes that paying his employees should be outlawed. Spend heaps of $$ and do both! Qantas beckons!!!
Clip your friend around the ears and tell him that if he works for free he is an idiot, as he is making it harder for qualified pilots like us to get paid what we are really worth!!

This is just my opinion, but I strongly suggest getting the Instrument rating ahead of an instructor rating.
Once you have it, go bush and look for work. You may only land a single-engine charter job, but the the IF skills may just save your life, and if you have a couple of renewals under your belt prior to getting your first twin job, even better.
This path worked for me, and I hope it works for you.
