Question Hiring aircraft from Coolie/Maroochy/Archerfield/Caloundra

G'day chasps,

Will be holidaying in Surfers/Sunshine coast for two weeks. Aeronautics teacher with current CPL(A).

Currently hatching a cunning plan to do a day-trip up to Fraser Island.

Can I please have some starting points as to whom I can hire aircraft from?

Would be looking to fly from Coolie, Archerfield, Caloundra or Maroochy depending on when I go and cost/availablilty.

It will be a private flight, so I'm not fussed as to whether school or syndicate.

Current on Grumman Tiger, Bonanza and C172.

H070.

Finding a suitable machine is half the problem.
The other half will be finding a suitable ala.

Lesson 1. Do not refuel the aircraft so it's chokkas and then fly a short leg to Fraser Island. It will be hairy trying to take off when it's time to leave! (unless you find a fisherman who will be happy to relieve you of 50 or more litres of avgas to run his generator). The Orchid Beach strip is short, soft and sandy, and the wind will most likely be tail wind/down hill or into wind/up hill. If you want the strip details, send me a PM.
Cheers, Max

Hire a C172 or Bonza from Redcliffe, then fly to Hervey Bay and take the boat across. Much easier and very pleasant - airport transfers are free too.

Thanks Jamair,

Is there anyone you might recommend. I don't want to be 'milked'.
