Qantas Courses

G'Day,

I have heard rumours of Pilot December/January courses at Qantas.

Anyone hearing the same rumours???

LFBS, are you out there? You seem to know the score!

Negative comments elsewhere please!

Thanks

G'day TCQ,

Still waiting mate? Fun isn't it. I have also heard rumours that there may be a January course, either on the 74 or the A330. Hopefully we'll be hearing something soon!

Good luck,

Altocu

QF courses

Spoke to Fiona the other day, she said there should be letters out by the end of September. She didn't give anything else away though. I'm not in the same boat as you though altocu, no ref cx yet, so who knows.

Good luck

Just to add my two cents worth...

I spoke indirectly to Kim & she indicated that the web page was still holding current info (ie. possible recruitment Jan-Jul).
But a friend called me about another friend of his who was going to start course in Oct ?
Sorry nothing substantial, but thought I'd better pass it on!

G'day Ibol,

Haven't heard anything from Qantas, apart from what's on the website. As with everything, it's rumour only.

Well if the wheel has turned and the proposed courses come to fruition then good luck to all on the hold file!
I wouldn't put too much faith in anyones idea of what A/c they are recruiting to as I believe this a fluid situation and can change right up to the time a candiadate starts course
Just to put another rumour into the network I have also heard that there is an excess of S/O in the company and further recruitment will only follow lots of upgrade training
Once again hang in their

Hey Altocu...Been a long wait hasn't it???

Have heard...
-confirmed order for 60 737's
-MOU that Q pilots will fly any "discount" airline
-the A330 orders have been brought forward
-recruiting is to be increased

Once again, as you said, just rumours... but it is something to keep everyone interested.

Best of Luck,

Deckchair,

I think you might mean Robyn, not Fiona. Received a letter from recruiting recently, and it was signed by Robyn Hind.

Robyn is back in the seat. Greg is back on the line.

There IS a surplus of S/Os, but the fleet requirements seem to be changing very frequently. The Classic has gone from imminent retirement and mass redundancies/re-assignments, to requiring upgrades. The A380 is still on the way, and there are more and more spaces opening up from the continuing A330 upgrades.

Skimpy and proposed courses

I can imagine the decision with regard to crewing of Skimpy will affect the future of Pilot recruitment at QF.
Nothing heard on my grapevine maybe next year?

G'day Poto,

I guess if, as has been suggested on other threads, that Skimpy is staffed by QF mainline pilots, then that would create some slots there. Here's hoping anyway!

I did hear a rumour the other day that there may be some Classic courses coming up, but I would have thought there'd be a few 76 SOs that might fill those before any new hires.

Anyone heard anything?

I guess if there was going to be a December course then calls should be happening soon. Would surely make a nice xmas present!
