Wink PPRuNe and both sides of the fence '89 BASH.

In the hope that Big W might allow this to remain here as a "sticky" (assuming that this is the correct place to post this info), here goes yet another attempt to orgynise a "Bash". BTW, W, does Danny require "official" notification/request?

Anyway, who's open to the suggestion of a Gold Coast Bash on the week-end commencing Friday, 7th NOVEMBER - Sunday 9th NOVEMBER?
I have a couple of venues in mind to be aired on future posts, if anyone remotely thinks they might be able to make it.

Any firm bookings will require hard cash - your's!

Anyone?

Cool

There Kaptin, I think this is where your thread belongs. And I "stickied" it here with a couple of bandaids.

I couldn't help noticing the bandaids on this thread... I've seen better jobs of plastering tho! Anyway, sorry KM, but that's the wrong time of year for me. I can never get time off in November...

Hope it's a good session, with plenty of highly revealing pics!

You're a real pooper sometimes KaptinM
See, OzEx will be here to grace us with his presence mid-December. (sort of)

Anyway, we're getting something organised for the breakky creek, similar to last year for the weekend of the 19th 20th and 21st Dec.
Don't suppose you could postpone leave and just take a big hit at Christmas?
Aunty GG might even entertain the ankle biting mini M's as it will be by then

If you're set in concrete for November though, that's ok, we'll probably be able to catch up with you and the missus at some point

What date is Mrs M due this month?

Le Pilot, dunno..maybe (what's left of) a few brain cells - but NOT your Mum if you bring her!
OzsExpat, revealing pics..hmmmm, as in cups of C or D?? November - a perrrrfect time of the year in S.E. Q'ld not to be missed.
GoGirl, sorry but the train has been set in motion (leave request, bookings, deposits, etc) and besides that I try to avoid public Hols like the plague - good accomodation is generally booked out years in advance, and what IS available is super premium over-priced!
Mrs M will deliver at 2pm on the 2nd of Sept (tomorrow) - remember, this IS Japan and everything has to run to a strict timetable. She checks into hospital today.
Perhaps you and Disco Stu might like to trip down to the lower coast for a night of imbibing?!?

Cut loose at 10am (Japanese Time). Against all odds (5 boys to date), this one arrived WITHOUT a Willie!

As the punchline of the joke goes, "with one of THOSE, you can have as many willies as you want."

Being a Dad to a no-willy, now doesn't make that joke as funny as it used to be.

Any fool can put a spout on, Kap; it takes a good tradesman to turn the edges in... congrats to you both.

Thanks all, I'll pass your kind thoughts on to Mrs M shortly - I'm a busy little househusband at the moment, so not much time for PPRuNing between hospital visits, loads of washing, cooking and that other thing....oh yes, that four letter word ending in "k"...work.

So back to business.
The first venue will be The Lone Star Tavern at Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast Highway, kicking off from say 1600.
It's easy enough to find, has a BIG bar, and offers a pretty good menu
That will be on Friday, November 7th.

There's a mile of accomodation at much cheaper rates than Surfers Paradise in that area - beachfront and back.

Anyone's appetite whetted yet?

And here's some more incentive, for the budget conscious amongst us...

WOTIF

And

LAST MINUTE

2 brilliant accommodation sites! There's loads of places listed for the Gold Coast, especially on Wotif. The savings can be as big as 80% on rack room rates, which is often better than Industry rates anyway

The only hitch being, because they snap up rooms for the following fortnight only, (basically rooms not sold, hence the cheap rate), it means you cannot book in advance, only from 2 weeks out from the dates you are looking to need the accom.

Hope this helps though

Regards
GG

Kaptin; Congrats to you and Mrs M on the latest arrival.
Of course you realise that you are now outnumbered!
(Mrs Pinky says one of them equals four of us and who am I to argue?)

Talking Stretch B717

Sounds like it could be about the size of the MD90.
I'm driving the MD90 EFD (enhanced flight deck) which has the same DUs and FMSs as the 717 - MTOW 72.0 with 121 pax in 2 classes.

Certainly a money maker...

Thanks for that, Pinky...and also Welded Wings

Moving on to the arvo and evening of Saturday November 8th (and the am of Sunday 9 ), the location to group is Hard Rock Cafe Surfers Paradise, corner of Cavill Ave & Gold Coast Hwy.
Again 1600 (4pm) looks like a good sign-on time, and as Surfers is a 24 hour hot spot, there is a high probability that a PPRuNe Quality Test Team (PQTT) will need to carry out checks on several pubs.
Persons of dubious stamina are advised to wear thick jeans and gloves, and are asked not to complain about skin chaffing the next morning - wherever that may be.
