The weather was quite bad in that area at the time of the crash.

Very, very sad accident.
I wondered if the reported mayday call would shed any light, but it's just an urgent "Air traffic control, N402, mayday, mayday, mayday" followed seventeen seconds later by a rushed, panic-stricken "N402, mayday, mayday, mayday." Having flown my family from NorCal to SoCal it hits home.
