United flight returns to departure over non-custodial parental abduction
Surprised I didn't see this (although I could have missed it).
Apparently United flight from Washington DC->Beijing returned to DC under law enforcement instructions when it was discovered that a child on the flight was a potential victim of parental abduction (i.e., the non-custodial parent tried to move the child outside the US). Interesting that they returned to DC, but as the route takes them over Canada relatively quickly after departure, and considering that US law enforcement would prefer to avoid an extradition with, e.g., Canada, seems to make sense.
