Piper Meridian crashes after takeoff from HPN

Sad story, the pilot was killed. Richard Rockefeller MD, a great guy and well known philanthropist. Had flown down from Maine to have dinner with his father on his 99th birthday.

You can pull up the certificates of any pilot in the US on the FAA web site. Yes, he was.

Apparently, weather was a major contributing factor in this tragic accident.

Being instrument rated, low ceiling and visibility shouldn't have prevented the pilot from executing full control of the flight envelope.

RIP
