Suicide by jumping from an aircraft has been a regular annual occurrence since the 1930's. There are always suicidal people, and many suicides in this fashion are the result of huge personal problems, or happen after being charged with a serious crime.
My own father was robbed by a crooked real estate agent who regularly took deposits from multiple people for the same property. He did this many times over a short period of time.
It all caught up with him rapidly, and when he was charged and bailed, he promptly took a short flight and then jumped out from around 2000'. This was in the mid-1940's.
