Adding type rating to FAA ATP from foreign ATPL

Heard it is possible to have type rating from foreign ICAO licence added to one's FAA ATP by applying to the FAA with no need for practical test (Provided of course you fulfil the requirement).
Can anyone out there who has done this please confirm.
And also provide the necessary references for the procedure.
Thank you.

I don't think so.

I asked the local FSDO about this a year or so back, and they said, no, I would have to do a checkride with a FAA examiner or designated examiner. Not aware of anything changing since then.

But call some FSDO (google search) and verify for yourself. You can normally speak to someone, or they will get back to you via email, if they don't know the answer.

The real answer is to try and do the sim/checkride with someone who is an examiner for both FAA and JAA.
