Biz Jet

G'day all,
Just a quick question, regarding biz jet job's. how common are they? How many hr's are flown per year? What pay? I am an aussie with 1400hr total, 1200hr multi and 600hr multi command. All of this has been in chiftain's, baron's and seneca's.

Regards,

Shnee

G'day Shnee

I came to the USA about a year ago from Aus with the same sort of times you have. I too was hoping that flying in the USA was as good as people said it was back in Aus.

After 3 months of searching with my hours I scored my first job over here Flying Cessna 402's under part 135 in Florida. I was very very lucky to get this job. Aviation over here is very hard to break into at the moment. I just left that company and now scored a job flying a Metro. The hardest part about getting work is people dont like to hire you unless you are currently flying.

Competative times for Part 91/135 Biz jet company here is around 2500 Total, 1000M/E Command, 500 Turbine/Jet. Most Companies also like pilots to already have a Type Rating in the a/c. There is a lot of Corporate aviation in the USA, very much a who you know type industry. Pay varies, I have some mates as f/o's on lears/hawkers/citations some getting paid $1000 US a month, some getting $2500 US a month. They fly normally between 50-90 hours a month. The single ones enjoy it as they are on the road a lot.

If you are serious about coming to the USA, and you have the right to work here. With your hours I would look at trying to get a job with either the regional airlines, or with a part 135 cargo company like www.ameriflight.com. The minimums to fly under Part 135 are 1200 Total, 500 Cross Country, 75 IFR, 100 Night. The requirements for the regionals are about the same with 200 multi only. If you get some 135 time you should be able to get hired on with a Biz Jet company.

Flight training over here is a piece of cake compared to home, just very expensive. Flying in the USA is a lot of fun and a great experience. I have met many people and made lots of new friends.

I am thinking of coming back to Aus in another year or so just want to get a few more hours. If you have any questions feel free to contact me..

Hope this helps

Cheers

p.s If you have 1200 Multi and 600 command, what is the other 600 in???
