Who's gonne fly the Norwegian Long Haul

Heard some rumours that the Norwegian Pilots are bypassed as far as the new 787 operation?
Anyone?

captplaystation 19th Dec 2012 08:45

Try reading the existing NAS threads, on here & terms & endearments.

I think it is the first time I have heard that a civilized company are not using their own pilots:D
What is up with this deal?

PropsAreForBoats 29th Dec 2012 15:18

Who told you they are civilized?

The broker RISWORTH is preparing a presentation on 9th in Singapore.

So the 787 is grounded! That gives me two questions to wonder about:Are they now gonne fly the 767 or A-330 until the nightmareliner is back in the sky?
And will the origional Pilots from Norwegian still accept to be left out of the long haul production?Anyone with "inside" info??

captplaystation 19th Jan 2013 15:06

AFAIK trying to force the company to employ existing NAS permanent crew in NAS Long-Haul on T's&C's any different from other contractors, is not on the NPF (Union)'s radar. It appears that they have given up on that battle even before it started, which, as it is on a different AOC (containing - for the moment :hmm: 1 738) is probably prudent. There are other more pressing fish to fry, the decimation of the pensions, and how the company will propose to utilise the growing proportion of Contractors from Springtime onwards being the main two.

Existing NAS pilots are free to take a "leave of absence" for up to two years to "live the dream", & come back into "Core Norwegian" with no loss of seniority after this time, so far. . . very quiet.

The Norwegian CAA have just this week informed NAS that they will not accept the employment of Thai CC for the operation.

Inbetween this, & the aircrafts ongoing woes, I doubt they are as optimistic in the short term as they would wish the world to believe.

With the 787 grounded I guess this is not an issue anymore.
Understand they will wet- lease an Airbus-330 until further?
Maybe SAS can fly for them......
Anyone?

Vixun 15th Feb 2013 04:46

SAS don't have any surplus 330 or 340, they are adding one more 340 to the fleet in March/April to cope with their own network for the summer of 2013.

reiseselskap

Jager43 21st Feb 2013 13:44

Korrekt, men..

semmern 27th Feb 2013 22:19

Hvor har du dette fra?

Boeing operator 3rd Mar 2013 15:08

What destinations do Norwegian Long Haul plan to fly?

If most flights will depart OSL and/or ARN, I just don't understand the thing with BKK-base. If the network will be out of BKK I understand it better, but then Kjos need to get an AOC from the Thai CAA.

I am very confused. Can someone tell me how it's really going to be. Does anyone know? Are all employees (to be) getting an apartment in Bangkok, and have sent in an application for a resident's permit in Thailand?

Rishworth doesn't say much, just a lot of .

:ugh:

Wesker 4th Mar 2013 08:29

Boeing Operator:

It was planned have the 787 registered in a separate company with a Norwegian AOC. They then got the cold hand from the Norwegian authorities when they wanted to use Thai cabin crew on that AOC. On top of that the 787 are now delayed.

I think very few people know what will actually happen. Norwegian have already sold a lot of tickets which is only making things worse. Maybe that's why they are so quiet. There are rumors of them using 767's which will probably disappoint a lot of customers. But who will fly them?

and have sent in an application for a resident's permit in Thailand?
There is no such thing a a residents permit (other than a Permanent Resident and the rules for that are unbelievably complex), just a work permit and the relevant visa, both renewed annually. It is impossible to get the work permit from outside of the country and without a job within the country.
