Linmar: Tks for info regarding pensions - didn't catch that from the annual report myself, but very interesting numbers also for us already employed by SAS...!

But regarding payscales: Whatever payscale that will be used; there will be no difference for new pilots if they start on a CRJ900, 737 or an Airbus. Only difference is that RC stop at 8(?) years, but as you promote to other AC types there are no loss for your lifetime salary either. Just for info...

SK-Pilot:
The numbers are in a table on page 8 of the 2010 annual report. Also expected retirements of cabin crew can be found in the same table. For pilots the total retirements til 2020 is around 650. I don't know what percentage of the pilots in SAS that are captains but anyhow in 2020 all pilots now in SAS should either have been upgraded already or just about to.

New pilots joining today would probably look at around 8-10 years til command given that the number of pilots stay constant around 1350-1400. Increase/decrease in traffic obviously will affect that time. There are no numbers regarding 2020-2025 but given the increase of retirements from 2016-2020 it looks like SAS will have retired most of their current pilots in 2025.

From what I've heard former SAS-pilots that left in 2003 are offered to re-join SAS with the same salarylevel as they had when they were let go. This would probably mean that more are interested to go back. So for the rest of us it's probably not likely there will be any new hires this year. If ALL of the former SAS-pilots want to go back that should probably cover the need for pilots during 2011 , 2012 and maybe some of 2013. Right in time for the next downturn of world economy maybe. :E

Anyway, as far as I understand SAS are lacking around 100 pilots today. This year only a few will be needed to cover retirements, but then again around 60 would be required to maintain the traffic increase. Next year the same so a quite optimistic number would be 240-250 pilots for the next 18 months.

SK-pilot, thanks for info regarding salaries. I understand that a few years ago 7(?) years of lower salary was negotiated in the collective agreement but also that these years are now removed or will be removed once SAS start recruiting. Can you shed some light on this?

Exciting weeks ahead now. This will at least stir up some rotation of crew around Scandiland.

minimumunstick: Helt riktig, når man slenger inn søknaden trenger man ikke uploade police records, man får bare et spørsmål om det...

Payscale

For somebody who is not really updated on the current salary level and payscale in SAS, could someone please enlighten me.

I used to fly for SAS, and I have filled out the application for former pilots, but I don´t know what salary to expect if I join again!
I know it is less than I earn now, so I want to start thinking about how much less and if it is really worth it for me. So many variables.

Besides salary, how much pension do they get? For me, I am most interested in the danish conditions, but I am sure others wants to know about Stockholm and Oslo as well.

Anybody know?

TheFlyguy 29th Jun 2011 19:09

And what would be the pay deal for New Pilots, or is it all regulated the same by the union? Any difference between the bases towards salary package and pension?

flyordie 30th Jun 2011 07:02

Hmm, back to the old application closing date for "new pilots", 01. June 2012.

BoeingTor 30th Jun 2011 19:41

directmisbi 11th Aug 2011 20:54

I still have colleagues in my present company that were fired from SAS back in 03. They are in contact with SAS, but have yet to be invited back. I recon (without knowing for sure) that its gonna be a while before "new" applicants are getting a look in....

SAS-A321 19th Aug 2011 13:46

All positions this year should be filled with former pilots.

SAS willing to take back ex-SAS pilots

I got this e-mail today, so I guess no vacancies yet for not former SAS pilots yet.:(

Dear SAS Pilot applicant

It has been some time since we opened the possibility for pilots to register an application in our on-line application system. We are very pleased that we have received your application, and it is now registered in our pilot application database.
All applications are being reviewed by our recruitment staff, and categorized in relation to qualifications to facilitate selection of the required pilot profil at any given time.
If our staff finds that not all requirements are fulfilled in your application, you will be notified by email - giving you a chance to update the application as relevant.

It is possible for you to update your application by email, but since changes are entered manually we kindly ask you only to forward any absolute essential changes to your current application.

We are presently hiring former SAS pilots and as soon as we need new pilots we will send out information directly to selected pilot applicants with an invitation to participate in the recruitment process.

All other information will normally be given via our web site www.sasgroup.net or direct link: SAS Pilot News

You are always welcome to contact us if you have any questions regarding our recruitment process.

Best Regards

Team Pilot Recruitment

Ja, har modtaget samme mail.

Har hørt at der vil gå 8-10 måneder før de skal bruge flere. Men ved ikke hvor nøjagtige de oplysninger er...

Nick Figaretto 19th Aug 2011 21:35

Det vet neppe SAS heller... :ok:

Brix 22nd Aug 2011 11:17

All positions this year should be filled with former pilots.
If this means, don't have false illusions, don't worry. I never had any.

I have always been treated unfairly in this business, and this will not change until I retire or until I get fired.

The good jobs have always been, and will always be, unaccessible, no matter how qualified I am.
