FROM SK TO DY and back again....

So how many guys are leaving back to SK from DY? I guess the guys that left for the sandpit are bonded for the next two to three years, but the SK guys had the type or bought it so I guess they are free to go ? Is recruitment still ongoing for DY?

Spirit 9th Dec 2010 23:38

I've previously flown in "Da Pit" myself, and if you don't show up with a rating, you definitely will have a bond - I believe, that in the case of FlyDubai, you'll be bonded even with a rating.

Now whether you then choose to work it out, pay it out or jump ship, that's a different matter...

directmisbi 10th Dec 2010 08:39

What I meant was Qatar airways and Emirates. Especially the first one has taken a lot of the SK guys laid off in the spring 2010. These guys are bonded for the next three years, and with SK recalling according to senority, i was assuming theses guys were unavailable for re-hire...Interesting with the former SK guys staying with DY. The place seems more and more the place to be for the future. The waiting list for interview reflects this....

The pit

I am in the pit, and it sounds like the enthusiasm for going back to SK is not all that great. People are stil coming down from SK to Ek..

Far as I know only one heading north in the spring, some LOA until 2012.

SAS will never have problems recruiting pilots.

Dovregubben 12th Dec 2010 15:52

With 23.000,- swedish pesetas/month as start salary I think they will.
You can earn doble of that as a normal carpenter in Norway.:ugh:

Guttn 12th Dec 2010 17:01

2 truths about aviation, as a reply to the 2 previous posts.
1. There will never be an issue of any airline being desperate to recruit, because there has never been and is never going to be such a thing as pilot shortage.
And because of 1. ...
2. T&Cs are always up for negotiation, and can thus fall either way.

If things were the other way around, that airlines were sending company representatives to the flightschools for recruitment (and not P2F scams), then that would surely indicate a true pilot shortage as they could not easily fill seats 0A and 0B. :ouch::(

bfisk 12th Dec 2010 23:25

23k SEK/month? Is that gross or net? Holy ******* moly... that better be net! Does anyone know if McDonalds are hiring?

Guttn 13th Dec 2010 08:41

I think you`ll find that when the smoke has cleared and that those pilots who have ben recalled and accepted/declined the offer, the hiring will begin, and the terms will certainly not be as mentioned here (= old terms). I`ll take a guess at the new ones being in the ballpark of LT/WF figures (salary) and a typerating to go along with it :ok:. But, of course, time will tell. :D

bfisk 13th Dec 2010 09:32

Let's hope so - even WF and LT starting salaries are substantially higher than 23k SEK/month gross!

Of course they are. Highly skilled personel don't come cheap.

directmisbi 14th Dec 2010 06:52

I dont think SK will have 4500 applicants with CRJ 900 ratings..

Nick Figaretto 14th Dec 2010 14:42

I don't think Norwegian have 4500 Scandinavian speaking applicants who also hold a 737 rating.

Guttn 14th Dec 2010 17:57

But if, by chance, they do... then this shows to which level the bar has been raised :ugh:

maxed_out 14th Dec 2010 19:20

Seems like the people that are already rated on the 737 hopes that SAS will disregard the people already tested and approved. These guys of course hope for their "place in the queue" to matter. We have a tendency to hear the rumors we want to hear. Let´s see which side will be happy when the recruitment starts.

I´m hoping that SAS will still pay for typerating and that the ToC will be fair. On the other hand I´m a hopeless dreamer :O

8ah 14th Dec 2010 20:28

Tested and approved... That was a couple of AOC's ago was it not ? Me 11 years give or take... Dreams are all good, but keep them bedside, or one just :ugh:...

Had the same experience at the little green one to so ... My moral is, do what you can, never give up. And get out if needed.. There are a lot of good qualified girls and boys out there with all kinds off experience looking at heading north.....

PropsAreForBoats 15th Dec 2010 21:07

Thanks a lot for the advice, RTO. We really hadn't thought of that.

BBJ King 16th Dec 2010 13:27

RTO. Says who? And maybe somebody else will be knocking on their door next time?
Things change quickly in this business

Guttn 16th Dec 2010 16:42

RTO, that`s always a consideration, but for various reasons. But as long as you haven`t f`ed up royally, then applying to a previous employer shouldn`t be an issue. :ok:

Some SK pilots may prefer the DY way of doing things compared to the SK way, and perhaps some SK pilots can`t wait to get recalled.

Kilo-club SNA 17th Dec 2010 22:19

Greedy pilot union? Hold on here, surely this is one of the more modern approaches to determining what pay to award different pilots.
I personally applaud the NAS union for supporting a payscale that rewards experience as well as loyalty(seniority)

Besides all that, the cost of type ratings and line training far offsets such increased wages. More likely they are interested in making a buck or two through selling the typerating to the "lucky ones" But hey, the last bit is pure speculation!

greedy? maybe but surely not on this point...
