Eastern Europe..?

Hmm, that sounds interesting. Poland?

Hot babes and cheap vodka, or so I hear.

Merry Christmas to all of you.

An2 25th Dec 2007 17:47

OK,....picking up the pieces and trying to come alive again after all that food that was stuffed down my throat yesterday!:hmm:
Although no "palt" was ingested, I still experienced something resembling "palt-koma". Any and all from the northern parts of Sweden will know what I mean!:}
From now on, this feeding-hatch shall be shut!:oh: ...at least for a few more hours.
TD,
Sort of sorry to hear about you being called in for duty.
On the other hand, Montevideo sounds like an interesting place and with a 34-hour lay-over, I'm pretty sure you will enjoy yourself!:E
I know I would've......:)
Hårek,
PL, LT, LV, ES?
Contract-gig goin' on?
The kids have gotten plenty of attention, so they should be content by now.
I'm holding wifey on arm-lenghts distance,...and then some,.....so that I can hang out in The Bar.;) No 24-7 commitment though!!

TowerDog 25th Dec 2007 18:18

Yeah, should be interesting here in MVD, but the place seems kind of dead.
Guess I will have a good meal, then read a good book.

Guess I am getting old.

esteindal 25th Dec 2007 20:30

Why grow old when you can die young at 100? No, TD. What has hit you is a case of getting-too-much-in-too short-a-time. Even if you won't tell us about it:rolleyes:
I am off until 27th and will be home on Newyears eve to cook for my family and launch the fireworks
And going to Guadeloupe to sail in a warm breezes for two weeks, leaving mid january:)
Life is good!
And now it's Miller time. Hello Picadilly Pub!

TowerDog 25th Dec 2007 20:54

What has hit you is a case of getting-too-much-in-too short-a-time.
Nah, have not been getting much lately.
Just on my best behaviour, quit smoking for the 11,000th time and have to be careful:If I go out to drink and dance, I will end up drunk with a hooker on each arm and a ciggie in my mouth...I know the devil and he is us..:E

And going to Guadeloupe to sail in a warm breezes for two weeks, leaving mid january
Aye ya swinedog, going sailing without me?
Gonne stop by Florida on the way, or ya flying straight over there from Frogland?

Say hello to the halfbaked French virgins in Guadeloupe, they are friends of my fantasy...

Hårek den Hardbalne 26th Dec 2007 09:20

TD,

Hmm, that sounds interesting. Poland?
No, Belgrade, Serbia. Do`nt know much about the place, but from what I`ve seen/experienced, it needs to be checked out a bit more in depth. On the down-side, no 34 hrs layover, I`m afraid.

An2,

PL, LT, LV, ES?
Contract-gig goin' on?
None, see above. Guess you can call it a contract-gig. Testflying a 737, then off to more central regions of EU for a ferry flight of the same type, and then up to "the old country" for New Years with Mack Øl og Linje Aquavit :ok:.

TowerDog 27th Dec 2007 15:41

Belgrade, Serbia.
Hmm, sounds interesting.
Them girls over there probably dig Westerners with their hard currency, then some?
Request full report.....:E

Back from Uruguay...As expected, good food and pretty girls, but Santa did not make it all the way down there towards the South Pole.
Probably because the weather was lousy, rain and strong winds, some kind of frontal passage.
Better luck next time.

esteindal 30th Dec 2007 00:01

Hey Dog. There is room for you and the missus if you so desire! We are going to have a good time in the breze. Two weeks! You have my number. Hug the madonna.

esteindal 30th Dec 2007 00:15

We need pilots.

Hi fellas.
If you didn't know, my company is looking for more operative personel. If in case you are pilots with some experience, if you manage scandi language and if you enjoy good life, look into applying at Wideroe. I have been working here since 1985 without regrets. You will have pleny of time off to spend all the money earned...
And if luck is your lady, you might even get to do your supervision in my cockpit!

esteindal 30th Dec 2007 01:08

Alcohol present

I was thinking one day, and this is very unusual:)!
There seems to be some discussion weather Viking Bar is a new phenomenon in the world.
Let us put this to rest now! There was always a bar like this. So hang out and drink. And keep the dogooders out. I am certain that language and humour will lift our spirits high and our companies afloat. Happy Newyear:D

TowerDog 30th Dec 2007 03:47

Hey Dog. There is room for you and the missus if you so desire! We are going to have a good time in the breze. Two weeks! You have my number. Hug the madonna.
Aye my man, not so fast...Being the junior guy at my new gig I ain´t got the days off to take on a sailing vacation like that.
The will and the want is strong, but reality is harsh and I shall be home polishing my own ship and lusting for more off days in a row..

(Should have gone to Wideroe or soome other steady firm back in the mid 80s, but my career planning has always been lousy and now I am paying the price, junior man in base...)

Say hello to the Lady, and go easy on them rum-punches, ya hear? :=

Guttn 30th Dec 2007 08:30

So I`ll see ya back on line after the new year Mr. E:ok:. Heading for KKN for the big night of firecrackers:{ but we`re a nice bunch this time, so things will be taken care of:}. Just hope the ruskies don`t celebrate by sending some "fireworks" westbound:eek::E.

But as E says, it`s a fine company to work for, you could even call it a large family. Good luck to those who apply, and do your homework before taking the emrty tests:ok:

Oh yeah....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!:D:ok::}

An2 31st Dec 2007 09:34

...back on-line again.
Sitting in Stockholm, about to leave for the Best-coast;).
...by train, I might ad, since no fly-boys wants to work this day!!:hmm:
New years eve will be spent with missus and the kids, so no relaxing I'm afraid!
I'll be on "pots`n´pans"-detail before I know it!!:ugh:
That's what you get for sneaking off to ARN to fool around in the sim!:}
Guttn,
Your roster takes you to Kirkenes on a New Years Eve?! ...you seem to handle it well though!;)
Hårek,
Go easy on the Mack!!
I've seen what it can do people!:E ..not to mention the aquavit!!:oh:
Happy New Year!! to you all!!!

Guttn 31st Dec 2007 12:40

An2, that`s right, but I have good company and the beers are getting chilled outside the hotelroom window:cool:. Late late check in tomorrow too:}. We are liking already! And just relaxing to the tunes of Hendrix before dinner..... uhhh beer:ok:. Good luck at your new job, and maybe we can have a coffee... uhhh two tall and frosty ones I mean, when I have nightstops at OSL again:ok:.

BTW, Mack gives killer headaches!:ugh::ugh::ugh:

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL VIKING BAR MEMBERS!!!!!!:ok::}

TowerDog 1st Jan 2008 03:55

BTW, Mack gives killer headaches!
Amen bro...

Earlier this year I went back to the cold country and stayed a few days with friends way up North.
Needless to say we swallowed more than a few.
Next day I felt like dog-poo-poo-poo.

Allah knows I have experience drinking, smoking, fornicating, being arrested, falling on my face, etc..This was different however. The beer up there put me under the table after 0500 hours and not to bee seen untill 1500.

The next day felt like a nuclear attack and the pain did not stop untill deep into the next case the day after.

Allah knows only Carlsberg, Bitburger, Dahls and a few others will carry you through the day without surgery...Stay there, don't go to town with a stranger.

Otherwise: say hello to Ralph...:yuk:

Guttn 1st Jan 2008 09:15

Quick fieldreport.... still alive and kicking:} Didn`t see your warning until now Dog, so we went out:E. Some cold ones at the hotels with the guys and gals:ok:, dinner "downtown" and some more cold ones:ok:. Someone tried to give me a Mack, but I diverted their attention, gave it to someone else and got me a Carlsberg:}:ok:. The locals sure know how to do fireworks! A blistering -14,6C will give your beer a slush-like texture:bored:.

Good fun, but the boy has to work this evening so it wasn`t an all out war:{

An2 2nd Jan 2008 20:06

Guttn,
Yes, we should get together for a tall frosty one!:ok:
Let me just get mi sweet little *rse up there first, OK?!:}
BTW, the sim-thingy was on the 737CL,......so now that rating is alive again.;) I'm a sucker, I know!!:O

Regarding Mack;
I went to engineering-school with a bunch of Noggies. We (a couple of us guys) used to run a bar in the dungeons below the classrooms, every friday.
One friday, before we were supposed to have a dreaded exam, the Noggie-boyz decided they should get themselves some "real beer"=Mack.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, all but one of them failed to show up for the exam the following monday!;) That's "The Power of Mack" for ya, right there!!:E

Flip Flop Flyer 3rd Jan 2008 11:32

Quick report from Mrs FFF's first encounter with a Danish xmas gig. Well, she might be muslem and all that, but she drinks like a fish and have no problems ingesting vast quantities of pork. So xmas evening went down a treat; I could only hope for a bit of fun for the xmas lunch on the 25th.

But, alas, I was buggered again. She took to the snaps like a duck on water, and positively loved the heering and everything else put on the table. Bugger, bugger, bugger.

Last time for a spot of good hearted fun was on new years evening, where the wacky-backy pipe is usually passed around with loads of bubbly. Nope, no real effect from that either. Floppy, on the other hand, passed out as early as 0500 and had to be carried to the taxi by the Mrs. Bugger, bugger, bugger.

TD
Washing? Ironing? Shopping? Cleaning? Dishes? No sir-e, those are all haram for this here guy. One of the advantages of marrying a good Turkish girl you see - they're usually well groomed from home and know that some tasks are simply not done by men. The above being only a few examples. My new hero is her uncle. Extremely nice guy, and more than just a little rich. That barstward has never, not once, done any domestic work. Hell, he probably don't even know how a vacuum cleaner works. And why should he bother, with a nice wife and a housemaid to keep him in Raki and sandwiches?

He's a sailor too, incidentially. We're off in April for a cruise departing Bodrum. Nice "little" 82 feet Gulet, with 4 crew members to pamper us. Perfect mix that is - 4 guests and 4 crew.

Thinking of renting for a booze cruise if any of the regulars here are interested. Rate in early October is around EUR 1500/day all inclusive (diesel, food, drinks etc). She sleeps 12 in 6 cabins, all with private bathroom. Lemme know if it tickles your fancy, already got a Swede and Aussie signed up, both 757 skippers with the yellow brigade.

Quick edit to insert picture of Gulet, for those of you not fully conversant in things nautic:

I'm drunk, I'm drunk, I'm drunk.

Just had the department new years do in a nice Italian restaurante. Plenty of red wine, which didn't do much harm, but the owner came down with the home made Limoncello just as the boss had paid the bill. Faaark, that shyte hits. Well, according to my fake Breitling it's now 15:30 local, which means I only have to sit in front of the 'puter for another hour before we potter off to the local watering hole to get throughly shytefaced. Allah is indeed akbar.

Off travelling for the next 2.5 months, will report back at infrequent intervals.

Anybody know of a good brothel in Basel? :E

Hårek den Hardbalne 4th Jan 2008 13:53

Flip,

what the f:mad:ck are you doing in BSL? Telling the Farnair guys how to make a loadsheet ;) Or tired of the new Mrs. Flip and a house full of ladies in BSL is what it takes to kick start you again. Swiss or French side in BSL? I might be there next week :ok:

Flip Flop Flyer 4th Jan 2008 14:02

Haarek,

Got nowt to do with Farnair mate, I'm training DHL guys - as always. I'm staying at the airport hotel, so presume it's in the CH part of town. If you fancy meeting up for few brews on the companys bill, send me a pm and I'll pass you my mobile number. Insh allah.

TowerDog 4th Jan 2008 23:06

Hi Flip Flop.

Allah knows ya did change lifestyle, going from single to married, not only that, but to marry a muslim...Hat of to her for eating pork and drinking ya under the table...And for marrying you...Truly a good sport..(Does she have a younger sister?..:E)

The boat looks just fine and I would be the first one to sign up for Flip's Uncle's booze cruise, but as usual, days off are not what they used to be when I was un-employed.

Today just back from VVI, a truly fine place with a female to male ratio of 4 to 1 or something to that effect. What it means is that there is a lot of prime puzzy floating around, surrounded by a pretty Spanish speaking life support system. Fine young things they are and they seem to like mature men from Norway and other capitalist places. Climate is good in Bolivia and so is the food. Top it off with cheap living and ya are close to paradise....

I'm drunk, I'm drunk, I'm drunk.
Hmm, nothing earth shaking there. In fact that was my state of mind on a very regualr bases before I got married. After the knot is tied and the hoenymoon is over, one gets in trouble on a regular bases for being just that. (Drunk :=)

Allah is indeed akbar.
So they say, but at 0400 in the morning while trying to stave off a hang-over and having the speakers blare Allah Akbar, sounding more like a cow being raped, I went downstairs and cut the wires to the speakers. Only then did the TowerDog sleep well the rest of the day in a certain Middle Eastern country that that was as fukked up as the rest of them.

The moral of the story is: Don't sing that tune too loud early in the morning..It hurts and it brings back memories of the TowerDog almost spending the rest of his life in a sand-box jail....

Guttn 5th Jan 2008 08:45

TD, as we`re now speaking of gods and such, I would like to add a saying from a god who was not a fairytale figure:} "and so castles made of sand melt into the sea eventually" J.H.:ok: Or, in a 90s way of saying it "learn to swim!" -Tool:D:cool: Good you got out of the sandlåda dude! :D

Well, finally we`re getting some snow, so guttn is preparing his skis while other folks in Oslo and further south are having trouble, same procedure as every year, due to 50 cm snowfall:}:ugh:

WOW! 4 pages of Viking Bar Revival and still not moderated!:}:D:ok::=

An2 5th Jan 2008 20:06

Guttn, my man!
You're having a smile over the fact that them Oslo-ians will face some trouble over 50cm of snow.

Well, you should come to my neck of the woods,....we're expecting 5-10cm of the white fluffy stuff and people are already bracing for impact!!:E
Sure as sh*t, tomorrow this whole town will be on its knees, begging King Bore for mercy. I kid you not!:}
There will be cars all over, and the trams`n´buses will be sitting ducks, just waiting for it all to pass......

If I only could go for some skiing!!!:{ I envy you!
Where were you based again...?! ;)

TowerDog 6th Jan 2008 02:38

Good you got out of the sandlåda dude!
Yeah Guttn, I suppose so..I was over there for more years than I care to think about, although it gives me the creepy "Earned my dues feeling".

On the other hand, whenever I go back to the sand box I get this love-hate feeling as now I am home again..:ugh:

Perhaps not so much in the Middel East, Saudi, Egypt, Kuwait, Dubai, etc. althought Allah knows I have paid my dues there, but rather South Asia and especially India....
India was my first contract, hauling DC-8s for Air India Cargo. Also my first jet and first 121 ACMI place.
That was back in 1988 when some of the kids on this here forum were crawling around the carpet with diapers around their arses howling for mama when, but not if, it got too moist back there.

That being said, the Big Dog don't take no credit for having "been there, done that". The whole place is a sh!t-hole and I'd take my hat off to anybody getting a decent job from out of flight school and not having to go that route and sell yer soul hauling junk out of 3rd world places.
Good experience as far as yer flying skills and radio-work, but not good for family life and pension points. (non-sced flying don't pay no pension or retirement.) Stick with SAS or Widerøe for lubing up yer old days with premium Frog Juice as well as leggy F/As with a secret lust for mature men and 4 stripes..Way to go. :=

Guttn 6th Jan 2008 09:23

TD, I guess it`s one of those "good to have done it, but even better now that it`s done" things:bored:. It seems the trend nowadays is to switch companies just because it`s the trend. The grass is greener kinda thing. Going from nice, steady jobs to more sketchy ones for whatever reason:sad:. Hope they find what they`re looking for though.

An2, yupp did some skiing yesterday, and will do the same this afternoon. X-country skiing this weekend, but not the racing kind:yuk:, just "going for a walk" in fresh air. Tomorrow though, me thinks it`s time to hurt myself on a snowboard again:ugh::ok::E. Got some nice powder tonight, but since it`s Sunday, that means the hills are fairly crowded. Monday on the other hand:ok:.... Oh yeah, based in Bodø, but regularly travel through OSL on my way to or from work:}. Hopefully will rank high enough in a couple of years to be based at OSL, but for now I`m very very happy.:}

Hårek den Hardbalne 6th Jan 2008 11:12

Guttn,

Going from nice, steady jobs to more sketchy ones for whatever reason. Hope they find what they`re looking for though.
Face it Guttn, there is no such thing as a steady job. I`m sure TD can second that. You can have all the fancy permanent contracts in the world, if your airline goes tits up, you`re history.
Switching jobs can be positive beyond doubts. First of all, as a Norwegian, if you venture outside Steinroeysa you will discover that there is a world South Of Droebak. Not many Norwegian passport holders know that. Then, you will notice that the sandpit is warmer than Finnmarksvidda, that your new SOP is as good as your old one, and that a hand-shake does not mean that the other person wants to steal your fingers.
I have met too many fellow Norwegians down route, and I dare say that too many should have done their homework before packing the suitcase.
TD,
Bolivia. Never had the chance to sing and dance around that area. With Bolivia not on my map I have to vote for Asia, Africa and as #3, Middle East. Lots of good stuff to taste, and some of it smells good too ;)

An2 6th Jan 2008 18:53

Guttn 7th Jan 2008 08:00

Hårek, words of wisdom and experience:D:ok: But may I add that some companies are more prone to selfimplode than others:} and if your homework is done well and correctly, then you shouldn`t induldge on everything that is presented to you on a platter:ugh::{ Of course their are hard times and the market is not so pilot-friendly:mad:

Bengt Engel 7th Jan 2008 12:51

Flip Flop Flyer 7th Jan 2008 13:04

Gutten,

You're one seriously messed up individual. Not only do you, allegedly, go uphill skiing (langerend) which is violation of every law of nature I've ever heard of, you also confess to being a schneeplanker. Hrrumph, my good man, the only good schneeplanker is a dead schneeplanker, so says Floppy!

Schneeplanking is for misadjusted kids with baggy pants, stupid hats who rather smoke grass than drink scotch. It's just not on mate, it's anti-christ impersonated and every schneeplanker above the age of 16 should be shot on sight, legally if not on a reward basis.

Does it show that I don't fancy schneeplanking (snowboarding)?

Anyway, done my good deed for today and am off for a spot of sightseeing in BSL and a few cold brews. Think I'm going to stay over for the week-end, find myself a suitable mountain and go SKIING!

Flop signing off

Guttn 7th Jan 2008 14:38

Dude, you`ve misunderstood the whole alpine thing.... while you`re up in the hills trying your damndest not to cross your skis - yes I know t`s hard when you only have 2 legs and 2 arms and lack of coordination:E - the rest of us are already back at the bottom of the hill at something called the afterski:ok:. This is where all the noggies and the swedish chicks go early in the afternoon for some beers and to hook up for later in the evening:}. Never seen any danes there, but maybe one will fall off the lift and by mistake slide in the door:\ And of course you`re welcome in if you`re not too hurt:\:} or shaken:bored:

TowerDog 9th Jan 2008 09:22

Bolivia was very nice. The ratio of females to male bodies in that town is sinful. In fact the mind is spinning, kingsize bed and all...

Hmm, so Flip Flop is coming too? Tell him to leave the skies at home, it sure is flat enough for a Dane to feel right at home, but aye, there ain't no snow except in Disneyland and we ain't sailing there.:\

So uh, what outfit is starting to fly to Florida? Hmm, jumpseat back to the cold country now and then, good deal....

For a while there was a B-767 flying non-stop OSL-FLL, convenient ride for sure. Same people starting up again? Was it Premier (Air) or some spinoff of Scandia Charters or whatever that place was called?

So Mr. Engel, vacation is over and now ya are back in the sweatshop making doughnuts?

its a major charter operator here in scandi with 767's, there I said it, whos gonna fly those trips. they are in the ITA deal I think, so you shouldnt have any problems jumping with them. dunno if they will go ARN or OSL or both.

Whoooa there, Mr. Cod, I never promised anyone that I'd be infesting your place this year. Not that I would mind coming over, but the calender is already over subscribed.

I'm afraid the only part of North America I'll be visiting this year is Seattle. Company has went and bought a fleet of 777 freights, and guess who's going to develop the ground handling training? ;)

Should my luck turn really sour, the company might dispact my sorry arse to Wilmington/Ohio, but sunny Florida is sadly not in the picture.

Don't count your chickens yet though, got another mate in Orlando who's constantly nagging for me to pay him a visit. So, you never know, Flopster might just turn up at your doorstep one day feeling thirsty :E

TowerDog 10th Jan 2008 12:45

Aye, ya mean she-males...?

Nah, don't think that is on the menu for the TowerDog..But then, after a case of premium beer who knows?

So, you never know, Flopster might just turn up at your doorstep one day feeling thirsty
In that case ya bring sweet stuff from the old country and the beer is on me...:suspect:

Company has went and bought a fleet of 777 freights,
When is the delivery date for those 777s?
(Big back-log?)

First one due in March 2009, with another 7 coming over the remainder of the year and the last 2 in 2010.
