yep.... I know at least one other ex-traindriver who is in airbaltic.
I will be flying 37 :ok:
cheers

Navigator33 17th May 2007 21:05

Well the 75s aren´t coming this summer. So we ain´t going nowhere.

I´m just wondering who was so nice to put the new contract proposals on PPJN.com since they´re not at all negotiated yet!
And as it is looking now they will definately not be implemented.

airBaltic 737CL FMC occurences - any ideas why?

Had the pleasure of departing from BRU the other week, in one of BT's classic(!) 737s. Already before departure, the "FMC FAIL" occured several times, also blanking the N1 computation for takeoff thrust. Once airborne, the "FMC FAIL" occured again. Shortly thereafter, FD disappeared and AP disconnected. FD would not re-engage for several minutes, neither would AP. FD/AP + autothrottle had initially been in HDG SEL and N1 mode.

Any ideas why this happens? Colleaguespeak is that it almost ALWAYS happens out of/in to Brussels, Milan, Zurich, Rome, ... whereas it never happens elsewhere? Does it happen with other airline's 737CL as well? Our FMS version the last time I experienced this was U5.0, but I have also seen "FMC FAIL" during vectoring for approach in BRU with U8.5. Any comments are welcome!

Try deleting the altitude constraints out of the LEGS page. Otherwise in BRU (happened to me as well several times), delete the 700ft entry for the turn to NIK. Afterwards it should be working fine. Was it one with aspirated TAT?

TuckUnder77 22nd May 2007 15:36

Will give it a try next time.

Yes - - TAT.

Anyway, any idea what actually happens? "It shouldn't be that way" ...

Navigator33 23rd May 2007 11:19

Is this the place to discuss these issues?

But yes just delete everything in between the rwy and NIK.
Paris is also one of the places where the FMC might crap up on you.
But hey who needs it since we´re not allowed to fly LNAV anyway haha

hbiwe 26th May 2007 23:43

No indeed, that isn't really the place to discuss these things back and forward. Yeah, changes on PPJN happen quite fast and i asked myself the same question but have my thoughts. Nothing has been decided yet and the way it moves it wont go near soon.

Navigator33 31st May 2007 10:48

Yup. Just a heads up for guys still going for the interviews.
The new contracts have the very nasty suprise for new people
that you will get paid only 2200 euro gross until you have 300
hours on type. On the Fokker that could take up to 7 months before
you get there so be carefull before you sign and think it over twice.:=

Fellow Aviator 1st Jun 2007 09:03

Regarding the previous post. This is just an other example how the RyanAir disease is infecting the industry.

Navigator33 1st Jun 2007 19:15

But than again airBaltic is one of the few airlines where you can still get a TR paid by the airline.

VHF1 29th Jun 2007 23:23

updates??

Anyone have any idea what the state of play is in BT....lots of rumours flying as usual??...........

flying eagle 30th Jun 2007 11:55

Good looking C.A.s leaving! ;)

Navigator33 30th Jun 2007 13:45

Well if you´re in the company (RIX base) you got a 4 page e-mail yesterday.
That should clear some things up, for now.

Mike Lima 23rd Aug 2007 18:55

Hey folks!

Is somebody on 30th august in riga for an assessment?

greetz

swe_flier 6th Sep 2007 16:11

Hi folks,

What are the possibilities to get in with a F50 rating (0 hrs) in the bag? Is it worth going there? Ts & Cs? Salary? Roster? Etc.

Answers will be well appreciated. :)

Cheers.

Navigator33 7th Sep 2007 09:40

Even though they´re over staffed on the Fokker they´re still inviting people for interviews.

The pay is 2200 gross until you have 300 hours on type. After that it will go to 2880 gross. But it will take a while before you have 300 on type because the Fokker guys are currently only flying some 50 hours each month with lots of unpaid! standbys.
The schedule is the biggest issue we have (besides the incredibly unwilling management and chief pilot :ugh:)
The management claimed that at least the Fokker people would be flying 5 on 3 schedules from the end of July, but they are still on some quit irregular patterns (so are we on the Boeing).

My advise is if you can find a better deal to the west go for it because you will not get happy here in Riga (or Vilnius).
Almost all people come in with a lot of enthousiasm and energy but everybody is disillusioned 6 months down the road, by the time they´ve bene in the company for a year they´re ready to kill themselves.

swe_flier 7th Sep 2007 18:14

Thanks for the advice Navigator33. Much appreciated.

I am too thinking along the same lines as you recommended concerning checking the availability west of the Baltic states, however, its still worth speculating on all possibilities in the region.

Any other F50 operators in Europe that might be of interest?

Navigator33 7th Sep 2007 18:33

Don´t really know of any 50 operators since I´m on the Boeing myself
but I know some colleagues have been looking at the Fokker operator in Iceland (forgot the name) and VLM.
Denim air can always use people and if you´re in for a real adventure
why not try Arik air in Nigeria.

8ah 7th Sep 2007 18:56

F 50

Hi, would just like to correct you on Arik Air. We do not have a F50. It's a wet lease from Denim... Q400 are comming thou.....

flying eagle 8th Sep 2007 08:53

Can only agree about what has been said regarding airBaltic. Still if you come with your own rating I dont think there will be any bonding so you can always leave again :suspect: So if you dont have any hours you will at least get started.
It is Air Iceland that flies F50 in Iceland. I have heard it should be a nice company with good conditions.
BUT you have to be able to speak icelandic and they are not getting short with pilots.....:ugh:
Never the less you can always give it a try ;)
Good Luck!
