Departing F/O's
 

I must say, Im more than a little qurious, Can the number of f/o s that have left BT in,say, the last 12/18 months be actually quantified????? and where they ended up working ??? or is this just an urban myth???

8-9 FOs left BT within the last 2 months. basicly all over. Finnair, easy, Gulfair, netJets, JetX(:) ) etc............

I think its a very safe method of getting things said.
If u start out with saying "a freind of mine said..... " then no matter how harsh the following statement will be, U can never get in the S..t for it.
Afterall u a just telling what ur "freind" said ;) .

That said: I have a testday comming up with baltic and i must say that I am really hoping to get through. I have been looking for that first job for almost 5 years now, and I must say that no matter how the conditions would be I would be happy just to get some hours.

Ofcause Air Baltic will always have troubles with people leaving...... Its far away from a lot of the pilots homes/families and since the buisness is picking up there is a lot of alternatives if u have 500 hours on a 737.

if it's your first job in 5 years, don't hesitate. go for it. I am sure that you'll have plenty of fun and I am sure yuo'll learn plenty regardles of the quality of yuor colleagues. It seems to me that the pilots are not changing to get closer to home rather changing to real airlines. From what I have heard there are only scandinavian co-pilots there and there are good conections with Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo and Helsinki. Getting home shouldn't be a problem, roster permitting..... Maybe the blacklisting isn't so bad after all, the pilots seems to be leaving for good outfits. Go for it if you get it and take it for what it is, a stepping stone. And remember, no matter what are being said here BT has not had any accidents or incidents to my knowledge. On the other hand side, you can show anything and everything with statistics:)

I very much doubt that you need any luck. Yuo seem to be a good guy and probably a good pilot. If BT are as short of staff as I have heard and flying eagle said, I seriously doubt that they would fail anybody that don't screw up BIG times. Just go there, relax and be your self. I do realize that you are desperate for a job and desperate are the worst thing you can be on an interview. There for, to suceed, try to think of all the bad stuff instead of the good stuff. Sounds strange, I know, but it actually helps.

This thread is very interesting, however I think that it's a good job to get some B737 hours.

I try to get into since a couple of months but without any success.

I'm type rated 737/300-900 (no hrs on type) and I'm flying turboprops in western europe (400TT/150 jar25).

What is the best method of application, I've tried the writtings, emails, internet application ... What's wrong ?

Please tell us exactly how you get there, that would be greatly appreciated !

I´m also actively trying to get out of here.. after the summer that is.
Those of you that have been here or are still flying here know why!

I honestly thinks the way to get the company to concider your application is to have someone inside the company dropping ur application on the right desk.
I have tried to get in at Baltic over and over again... I even got hold of the Phone number to their human resource department and called them a few times..... But nothing happend.
Then a very good freind of mine was lucky enough to get hired by them.
He then asked me to send my application to him and he would c what he could do..... and ... well they invited me to this testday two weeks later.
Unfortunately its so hard to get noticed unless you actually knows someone within most companies around .... :(
But ... Hang in there guys... The buisness is still getting better and the future is more positive than I have seen since i finished the flight school in 2002.

I got through the first part of the reqruitment process :ok: and now i need to do a Psychological test/interview this friday.
I know its all about beeing your self, but I am none the less curious about what to its all about.
Does any one have some info about this test ????

Hey Winglet, I am a student pilot who is going through an intergrated course about three months from now. I will pick up my PPL via the American college I attend then head onwards and upwards in Europe. I wanted to know due any of BT's pilots commute. I know with Europe's traditional out and back system I'll need an appartment by the base, but I was just wondering. I am kind of hoping to live in the UK as I have freinds there on top of which all g/f's I've dated prefer a English standard country. (Don't owrry though I'm single ;) ) Could it be done?

Residing in England;renting in the Baltics.
 

On my days off depending on how long and if I am on standby. Like the duty week of 5/2 no; but five consecutive days off, yes! Also streches of 3 days I might try for. Does BT allow jumpseat and staff travel on all their as well all SASGroup flights?

5 days off in a row won't happen. The maximum one will get is 3 in a row. I haven't seen anything else so far. Also summer season approaches which usually means 5 on 2 off. Staff travel works according to ZED interline agreements. You will need an ID ticket everytime you proceed home and back for work. There is no "free" travel on BT flights for employees. Jumpseat will be granted if no cabin seat is available. Usually best to discuss with the operating crew before flight so that they are aware. But you need the ID ticket as well.

This Psychological test must be one of the most strange experiences in my life :confused:

I mean...... In all other tests u will have a pretty good idea about how it went when u leave the room.
But in this test dont have any wrong/right answers if i can put it like that.

I was drawing different stuff and got a lot of questions about what i draw ???
I have never tried anything like that so I was a bit confused and maybe even hampered, by the fact that a part of me was thinking.... What is this ? :(

So now when i know what I have been through i can c i should have come up with some better answers in different areas.
Ofcause I did not have the time to think each answer 100% completely through since it is a "live" interview.
Maybe thats even the point !!!!!

Well.... I hope i pulled it off and they will hire me.

I told that it was a hunter since it should symbolyse a animal that attacked "problems" instead of running away from them.

I`ve followed this thread from the sidelines, and enjoied the at times heated discussion. ...after 5 years I bet it feels pretty god damn good no matter what people say. Congrats and good luck...:D

Yep ... no matter how this job is, it will still be a hell of a lot more interesting than being a traindriver (which I have been doing for nearly 4 years) .
I hope all you guys out there without a job will succeed as well..... I guess its all down to the "keep on trying" deal.
