FlyMe 747-400s !!!
 

Hi everybody,

Could anybody comment on FlyMe's long-haul network expension (2 x 747-400 on order I believe...). When is it going to happen, what would be the destinations, and who are going to fly them? :)

I believe they have ordered 2 ex-ANA 747-400 to be delivered this year...
Not sure who is going to fly them though...

Oh yes, hope this is a joke. Guess they are more than busy figuring out how to make money in the Swedish market first:)

They will have the AOC through Global Supply Systems in the UK.

someone has been shopping around for an AOC in sweden to put 747's on, but this FlyMe deal is put on hold, innit? same as the ashtrays are us? :ooh:

Under EU law it isn't necessary to have a Swedish AOC to operate out of Sweden (one of the largest airlines that is based in the UK has an Irish AOC). It would be possible, and legal, for GSS to operate passenger flights out of Sweden on behalf of FlyMe. I'm not saying that this is likely to happen, and know of no plans to do so, but it does make one wonder why Flyme would want to buy shares in GSS if this was not the plan.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they would only be able to operate within the open skies agreement which essentially would be the E.U. Would seem a bit ridiculous to operate a 744 or two not being able to fly long haul.
