Ryan Air in Denmark

God luck to Ryanair with the new base in Denmark. Thay should have done the same in Norway/Rygge

Ryanair i kamp med fagforbund

Translated via google from danish to english:

From Borsen.dk 24 feb 2012

08:00 One of the world's largest airlines, Irish Ryanair is in direct confrontation with Danish trade unions. It is clear that after the low-cost carrier to Politiken Friday rejected any negotiation with the unions.

Streak Its core is the new base as Ryanair is in full swing to establish in Billund Airport, which is scheduled to open the 23rd in March. Ryanair has for years flown to London, but with the base puts it between 80 and 100 pilots and cabin crew lay in the west airport, writes Politiken.

That brings its employees for the first time to directly live and work in Denmark. The Danish trade unions would not accept the Irish low-cost giant in London, unless the company agrees to sign a Danish collective agreement. This requirement rejects Ryanair blank.

"Since all of our employees are employees of Irish aircraft / territory and on Irish contracts, we will not go into negotiations with the Irish, Danish or any other union," writes Stephen McNamara, Head of Communications at Ryanair, in an email to Politiken.

Thus, everything indicates that Denmark's second largest airport in the future becomes the scene of a showdown between the Irish company and the Danish trade unions led by 3F, among other things, organizes the airport staff who will be responsible for the tanks and use Ryanair flights and passengers in London . According to Brian Bright, president of 3F in Varde-Billund, you will not accept fixed Ryanair staff on Irish contracts in London.

"We will not accept this kind of recruitment. Sneak it in, it will spread and undermine the situation elsewhere," he told Politiken.

Trade unions stand firm

Ryanair holds firm in his refusal to enter Danish collective agreement, the trade unions are ready to use the cash method assures Brian Bright.

"There is absolutely legitimate means of the Danish model, which we are able to use. We have the possibility of conflict at them through our organizations and simply make sure that they can not get refueled, get supplies and handled baggage," says Chairman of politics, pointing out that other Danish airports will rally around the blockade.

Ryanair is famous for hiring its workers through shell companies to resolve contracts without basic rights and social security. This is one of the model, the unions now fear introduced in Billund Airport, said Brian Bright.

According to Stephen McNamara, Ryanair will use contract staff also in London.

Billund Airport is owned by five municipalities in Jutland region, among other Horsens Municipality, which has a social democrat Trojborg as mayor. Trojborg did not want to comment on the issue with politics.

In Billund Airport rejects airport director Kjeld Jørgensen Zacho to politics to interfere in Ryanair's employment.

Bra jobba Dansker. Hvorfor gjør ikke Parat det samme på Rygge. Ryanair er og blir et møkkaselskap som ødelegger for alle som jobber i luftfart

Good luck to the Danish Unions.

What people outside Denmark almost always fail to appreciate is that the unions are an essential part of Danish society which are acknowledged by Danes generally as a force for good. They are not a shell of their former selves like trades unions elsewhere. They have always been moderate, consulted by employers in all things, and are trusted by government to administer in trust all manner of welfare and pensions contributions and benefits.

Ryanair on the other hand is a notoriously belligerent citizen wherever it goes and commands respect only from the minorities who believe that's an acceptable way to behave in business.

I so hope the unions will succeed, then perhaps the Ryan pilots will start to act like men/pilots and not mice. Stick together and chance the conditions of the airline industry, also for the job you guys are looking for when your internship in Ryan is done with.
