Flying Clubs near Sodertalje?
Hi folks,
I'm visiting friends in Sodertalje (Sweden) next year and was wondering what possibilities might exist to get some Sverige flying done? Are there any flying clubs near Sodertalje (near Stockholm) that hire aircraft out to foriegn visitors with an ICAO licence?
Any views and opinions on flying in Sweden in general will also be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks,
VFE.

I will leave the rest of your questions to someone with better insight as I'm not a pilot myself.

Thanks Crazy Voyager! Very useful document!
Ideally I would like to hire a Cessna 152/172 if that helps people to narrow down where to start my search.
Thanks again,
VFE.

Hello VFE,
The closest aero clubs are probably Nyköpings Flygklubb(Skavsta airport), Nykpings flygklubb - Start, and Tekniska Högskolans Flygklubb(Skå-Edeby airfield), THF - TEKNISKA HGSKOLANS FLYGKLUBB.
These clubs operate PA28s, if you want to fly C172 you should probably speak to Stockholms flygklubb at Bromma airport, Flygplansflottan i Stockholms Flygklubb | Stockholms Flygklubb - Affärsflygklubben i Stockholm.
Most likely you will have to pay a guest membership(300-600 SEKish) and then do a checkout with time depending on your skill, after that I guess you can go fly by yourself, but make sure to contact them before you intend to fly since it might not be possible to do all that in one day.
Flying in Sweden should not be a problem. The area around Stockholm might however be a bit busy or congested, but not compared to other countries.
I'm not sure that any of the websites has english information on them but you can always try google translate.
Good luck and safe flying!

VFE, the clubs at Bromma doesn't accept guest members and the clubs at Bromma airport are in trouble because the larger parts of G/A areas where they have their seat will have their property rental contracts terminated by new year. Bromma is also a little tricky to fly from if you're not familiar with the procedures, it's a small field with alot of traffic.
If I were you I would contact either Nyköpings flygklubb (Skavsta) or Eskilstuna (Kjula airfield), the later is also pretty close by car. A very nice field and they have 2x 172s. I think they accept guest members, you will have to do a check-out flight first of course and the hourly rent is around €150-190 for guests with tax included.
Eskilstuna Motorflygklubb | For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return. /Leonardo da Vinci is their website. Try contacting them using [email protected]
