Flying in Iceland
Hello all! I need some help and would appreciate if any of you can give me a push in the right direction.I have done a lot of searching on-line and have come up with many answers but still need a few more.
What is the job situation like in Iceland? Icelandair is still a little out of my league but what about Eagle Air Iceland and Norlandair? Are they in need of pilots? Would they be intrested in an expat? Who shoud I call( send my cv to? Infact any info would be wellcome....
I am asking because I might move to the island in the future for personal reasons ( yes itīs a girl...). I am a thirtyish pilot from Finland. A little over one thousand hours, mostly instructing sep...
Thanks NorthRider

Hi Rider,
i used to fly there for three years, i suggest you start using your girlfriend and start learning icelandic, not as hard as it seems once you get to it and got someone to speak to.
i know Astraeus is doing a wet-lease for iceland Express (B7373 + B757), but I'm not sure whether they will need people, but I believe that a suitable TR will help you if you want to join them.
Then you also have Bluebird Icelandic, cargo company with 737, the requirements are rather lower but again a TR is required.
As for small operators I'm not so sure, been out of the ice pit for some time, but I wish I'd be back, had the best three years of my life up there.
Hope that puts you on course.
Bless Bless (that means "bye" in icelandic if i remember well)
P.s. you got to be a brave man to be dating an icelandic chick (but so lucky)

Thanks
Astraeus and Bluebird sure sound inviting but sadly I donīt think I have the experience needed. No TR, no 500h on type. That is why I have been looking at the small operators. Allso I think I would enjoy the varied and exciting flying they offer.
Nice to hear your encouraging comments and thanks for your help.
