Rostering at scandinavian charter companies

Hi,

Couple of questions regarding rostering at TUIfly Nordic and Thomas Cook Scandinavia.

Both of these companies operate from various bases in scandinavia and during winter time most of the flights are medium/long haul flights to the canaries etc. If I have understood correctly, most of these flights are nightstops. So how do they roster these nightstops?

For example if one is based at HEL and flies to Tenerife, there has to be nightstop as the duty limitations do not allow immediate return. So would you wait for the next flight to your base, which could mean that the layover could be up to 7 days long in some cases? Or do you operate a flight to a different base and then maybe deadhead to your specific base? Or do you deadhead between various islands in the canaries and then fly directly to your base?

Also how long is the layover usually when flying to the far east or any other long haul destination?

I am just interested how do these kind of operations work during winter time. Summer time seems to be mainly 2 sector duties.

In TUI we sometimes have two local nights in the Canaries. Mostly though, we deadhead with Binter to the "next" island and fly from there to our home base the following day.

Longhaul is about 3-5 local nights at destination.

Yes, and when you got home there was 7 or 14 days off before you reported to work again. But if you are talking about after 1972, forget it.
