It costs money to keep running a gimmick

Seriously though, I think they expanded at such a rate that there hasn`t been enough time to do the paintjobs. I somehow recall hearing an interview with BK where he said something like that, and that he didn`t find himself worthy of having his face on the tail of a 737, as all the "real Norwegians" we either pioneers and/or heroes, and that none of them are with us anymore.

The definition of "flag carrier" is somewhat different to what you are refrring to, though I get what you are trying to say.

Funny how there are no "real Swedes", "real Danes" og "real Pollacks" on the tails either, but hey, this takes time, research and money

Tailheroes

I heard they are painting Robinson-Robban on one of the Swedish aircrafts, can anyone on the inside confirm this?

Or perhaps "real Scandinavians", but that might imply something else

Me

think that a Norski invented one of the most produced items ever.... The paperclip (Binders) ...... Some other minor stuff like deapsea drilling, boat design etc.... But hell, who cares.... We will never match Saab or Volvo anyway.... (Do they stil exist??)

from wikipedia

A Norwegian, Johan Vaaler (1866–1910), has erroneously been identified as the inventor of the paper clip. He was granted patents in Germany[10] and in the United States[11] (1901) for a paper clip of similar design, but less functional and practical, because it lacked the last turn of the wire. Vaaler probably did not know that a better product was already on the market, although not yet in Norway. His version was never manufactured and never marketed, because the superior Gem was already available.
Long after Vaaler's death his countrymen created a national myth based on the false assumption that the paper clip was invented by an unrecognised Norwegian genius.

Yeah, why not paint scandinavians on the tail. Then they could change name to Scandinavian Air Shuttle instead. Wonder what three letter abbriviation would fit to that name?

Real Norwegian heroes, painted on an aircraft, should've been the guys graduating from Little Norway in Canada during WWII.

But I guess we can always settle for Alexander Rybak, Greven, Kristin Halvorsen and David Toska.
