SAS vs NAS

Hello people!

First thing's first: Scandinavians ability to express themselves in English may be inferior to the native englishmen, but I honestly believe that we uphold a fair level of English, both written and spoken. Mistakes are inevitable, errare humanum est. But at the same time it's uncalled for to start the name-calling... Even if people have opinions that are not in line with your own, it doesn't make the person stupid. It's the opinion that might be wrong and in this case an obvious misconception, if not a joke...

Now: I feel sorry for all the SAS-crews who are getting the shaft once again. Seems like there is no remedy for the mistakes SAS did in the 80:ies and 90:ies... Now the question about Norwegian arises: are they able to make a further establishment and expansion in Sweden?! SAS will most probably cancel a few routes that might be interesting for NAS, especially out of ARN. And another question about NAS' strategy: why haven't they started operations out of GOT?!?!? From what I've heard there is little competition in Sweden's second largest city and I know (workes at handling at GOT for while) that some of the FlyMe-routes were doing OK, such as ALC, PRG, ROM, BCN, NCE and a few others aswell! Just stay clear of domestic routes such as ARN-GOT, ARN-MMX... not good.

Hope for the best for all Scandi-, Sterling- and Nordic-crews!

Regards,

Dissident

Howdy partners!

Just got back from weeks and weeks and weeks on the road! Sometimes it sucks to fly biz... Been in the sim for the 550 which was great! One hell of a machine! New job which looks promising but you never know!

So... read the financial report rom NAS... not too impressive I must say. Looks like mr Kjos is struggling like everybody else, if not more. I'm assuming the CPH-startup will cost the company a few bucks which will bring the result even further down next quarter. Hard times for NAS! Good news that Transavia is pulling out of CPH-ALC though. Puts some more pax in the Norwegian-machines. Have they opened up the CPH-base for the -no-crews yet? It's been awfully quiet in the forum-no angry SAS- or Nordiccrews! What's going on?

I've been out of the loop for a while but I've seen some great places! Spent one whole week in Japan, one in Korea and one in Australia! Back in Stockholm enjoying the snow and getting prepared for the Vasaloppet!

Hope all is well with my buddies Guttn, 13:th and all others!

My personal opinion on why you fail to start a SAS vs NAS discussion is that you offer nothing but rambling.

What is this thread anyway? Your personal blog? I don't see what the question is; what is it that we are discussing here? I don't get it

I see two possibilities here:

Somebody posted something and removed it, and all we see are the responses, which clearly make no sense out of context

.-.-.-.-.-.-. OR .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Somebody should lay down the crackpipe before posting

Nothing has been removed so far.

The thing about the 550 training is probably the golden nugget here.

I hope they do start at GOT. We had a major market here whith Flyme and then whith Sterling. Now that they exist no more there is no other option then to take the expensice legacy carriers.

Why don´t they take over the flights that Sterling and Flyme had at GOT. I belive this would be very good profit for NAS.

I hope to see the NAS 737s ad GOT soon.

I think they're aching to go into Gothenburg but Kjos doesn't have the planes for it. Too busy fighting the bloody battle of Copenhagen.

Don`t really know why you`d want to start a SAS vs NAS thread, especially since the only (known) SAS pilot on the board decided not to play with us anymore. But what the hey!
The facts would have to be the annual financial reports, as well as Q4 financial reports for both companies. We all know the SAS Group result , but what is a bit interesting is that both SAS Group companies in Norway made a profit in 2008. Not a big one, but still.... Haven`t seen the annual report from NAS, only the Q4. Which was about what I expected, given the world economy and all.
2009 should be a turnaround year for everybody with some foresight though. NAS getting more planes, and hopefully fewer hurricanes, and SAS being restructured and for once not having a strike. After the dust has cleared once again, we should see some hiring in both camps.

Dissident, welcome home. All is well here. Having some days off and enjoying the winter activities very much

Dissident, are you talking about name-calling on this forum? If so, please provide a link.

As for language; we can use English, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian on this forum, so room enough for everybody to express themselves in whatever language is most comfortable to them. Mistakes and all.

One thing we don't want here is text speak, Nokia speak, whatever you want to call it.
The format is different here, and it's hard enough to write clearly and unambiguously without text speak abbreviations.
Punctuation and the use of capitals at the start of a sentence also improve understanding of the written word; their use is appreciated.

Hi Guttn.
Do you know the profit of .no's Operation (not including the 388 mill. financial profit from changing $ to nok. We all know the money most be changed back to $ when the 40+ NGs starts rolling out from the factory) ??

Cheers

Wiskey, no, sorry I don`t. Have no idea really. Not the annual one anyway. The Q4 sported a loss of around NOK200 mill. One of the reasons stated was high oil prices. But you have a point in that one needs to read between the lines to find out what is really going on (with any company). Write-offs, deductions, currency exchanges (and rates of course) etc etc.

13:

"...NB whent bankrupt ans SAS lost so much money they should have... "

"Should have gone bankrupt" as in you "would like to see them to go bankrupt", or is it based on your best knowledge of the SAS economy / how bankruptcy works?

Flaps, you are back....

Long time, no see. We tried to smoke you out before, but you have been hidding well.

Come on downstairs to the Viking Bar and lets hang out and down a few martinis, tell a few stories and who knows what will happen after that..
