SAS Fokker50

Hi to all,
I read somewhere that SAS would retire the Fokker50 fleet within 2010. I hope would it just a rumor. From which airport SAS operate with the Fokker50?

thanks

Really? Where did you read this?

I think they operate 6 F-50s out of OSL and coastwise north to TRD.

6 F50s are operated by SAS Norway, mainly on coastal routes in Southern Norway. Crews are based in OSL, aircraft are serviced in BGO. Other destinations are KRS, SVG, HAU, MOL, KSU and TRD.

Such rumors have surfaced now and then since this operation started, none have been accurate so far.

It would seem as though the Mk50s will have to be shot down in order to retire them from SAS Norge. Even Air Baltic (according to Bombardier´s web pages) will receive new aircraft - Q400 NGs. Maybe something will happen when SAS announce their new cost cutting plans? Although the Fokkers are making money (or so I´ve heard?), they are very old, harder and harder to maintain, and other companies (well - one at least ;-)) within the SAS Group could do the same job more efficiently with fewer aircraft, just by integrating the route network into their existing one in Southern Norway. Then again - this will never happen as long as the Fokker pilots cannot be transferred to B737/MD80/CRJ... Retire the Fokker 50? I´ll believe it when I see it

With a dispatch relyability of only 90%, I would be surprised if they keep them in service too much longer than 2009...
