Sterling
What's current status at Sterling? Does anyone have updated information on their recruitment plans during this winter?
Also, does anyone on this forum have experience with their TRTO?

They have something called an MPL, multi pilot`s license. Pretty much the same as the CPL-IR but without really doing the CPL-IR. They want to bring students from ab initio up to F/O 737 directly. But I fear this also means F/O forever with an MPL if you don`t do some extra courses. And extra courses, when you already are flying, is time consuming and a pain in the hole at the end up your back
But since they`re going through with this, they probably need some pilots in the near future. Probably not getting too many pilots willing to pay for their rating nowadays

Hm, is this MPL some sort of unique license that ties the stundents to Sterling for a long periode of time, to keep new FOs from leaving for greener pastures?

Regarding MPL, Sterling is not committed to employ any MPL students after completed line training. It is the FTO who is responsible for the whole program, type rating and line training included. The FTO hires Sterling to provide the type rating and line training on their behalf.
But there is of course a profit to be made if Sterling need pilots and MPL students are available. Its pure economics (as always...). How long do you think it will take before Norwegian introduces a similar program? (My bet is within 6 months)
Anyways, about 20 MPL students will be finished within a year. How many Sterling will employ is an unknown.

Have you or someone else heard something more about the plans Sterling have about their pilots this winter?
How many pilots they gonna help with the 737 TR?
How much they have to pay for this?
Have Sterling some kind of pilotpoole and how many pilots are they?
Must Sterling get some more aircrafts until summer 2008?

I'll grant them that the MPL is a good idea. More airline oriented training right from the start, since that's where the majority of new CPLs wants to go anyway. But the way the whole thing has been executed, reminds me of an Eagle Jet scam, although not quite as expensive

I'm afraid I don't have any more info than what has already been mentioned on this forum, or what can be found at PPJN. But it sounds like there's a chance of joining Sterling this winter...

There is a pilot pool...I am in it...with who knows how many....maybee 15-30 others I guess..
The rest of whom they need towards april will be hirred from their internal type rating groups...this was the infomation given at a interview/sim screening/infomeeting in oktober...aprox. 22 pilots attended.
Off course some MPL guys will be mixed in there also.

Me and one other guy with no hours on type, at the screening.
The rest was people with several hundred hours and up.

In theory - No problem
If you are married, then it should be no problem. It is your right. Likewise if you live outside Sweden and in a EU country, then your rights are exactly the same. Now, if you speak some scandinavian, then it would help.....but they can not use it as a reason for not giving you a job.

Hmmm..yes but...
the interviews are conducted in a Scandinnavian language. Applying in time for European Summer season and not being too choosy about the base will go in your favour.

Maybe not on the website, but I have not met anyone in the cockpit that is not fluent in either Swedish, Danish or Norwegian. If you can speak German and English its easy enough.
