FlyMe is a great place to work. Schedule is ok and the people there are the best. The paycheck is ok for a low cost carrier. Hope the new european routes will result in new job openings.

Flyme requirements are:
CMD: Min. Total 4000h. 1500h PIC on aircraft with MTOW of 30 ton or above, or 1000h on type. English and at least one Scandinavian language fluently.
FO: Min. Total 1500h. incl. 500h. Multiengine. English and at least one Scandinavian language fluently.
A valid B737 type rating will be considered an advantage before employment with FlyMe.
They are not interested at all if you do not have Total 1500h. incl. 500h. Multiengine.. because of their insurance they claim.

You need to pay for your typerating You can choose yourself where you want to do it. They just give you a date when the company training starts and by then you must have the type ready.

Gossip..
I heard that two pilots got hired with a total time not above 300 hours, and no rating. One of them has just started his rating. This is of course the exception. Insurance issue.

So their pilot recruitment officer is not telling the truth, when he is telling me they can't give a dispensation to their official requirements, eventhough I was trained for my 737 rating by a FlyMe captain and pilots from Falcon Air flying on the FlyMe routes on a daily basis .. bugger

Jetavia, As I told you before, one of the pilots previously worked at FlyMe, and that’s why he circumnavigate most of the requirements, not because they don’t have enough applicants with 1500 hours.

Yahh i am working on it through the people I had as instructors for the 737 rating all connected to flyme and falcon and know people in flyme... worth trying.. hoping for the best.

It seems like most companys in Sweden require that you pay for your rating.

I'm shocked to hear it aswell but the typeratings are something the companies save som money from, well they have to save money somehow becausel the swedish airlines are already living on the "edge" economically now thanks to someones... and i doubt they will have any better times when the new taxes will be implemented to make the swedish infrastructure even worse because of the treehuggers who still drive around in SUV's themselves

I think flyme can always reduce the entry requirements but why would they? If they can find qualified guys with plenty of experience and a good attitude why would they settle for gyus with less experience? Of course there will always be the people that have worked for the company in other positions and that know the "right" people and will thereby bypass the requirements! I have talked to similar operators and they have also said that it is an insurance issue!

Yeah, myself being a newbie I understand the guys being willing to fly for food as I probably would have done it myself but we all have to face the fact that if we keep doing it we will end up like busdrivers... Being responsible for people´s lives on our planes but not getting paid accordingly. Where´s the glory then? The pilot shortage will hopefully strike soon but until then we have to face management making demands for lower salaries. Hope we weather the storm. Keep fighting and my respect to all SAS Pilots for taking a stand.

Forget the pilot shortage in europe. Especially now when JAA is going to increase the retirement age to 65.
I started with aviation since 1995 and I have come to the conclusion that the pilot shortage is just a trick for flight schools to sell their course.
