Swedish PA's Part 4

After having been so accommodating regarding a previous request, I wonder if I could ask for your help regarding the translation of the following yet again:

HOLDING

Ladies and Gentlemen, once again your captain. Due to adverse weather / too much traffic in the vicinity of ___ airport, we have been instructed by air traffic control to enter a holding pattern for around ___ minutes before recommencing our approach. We now estimate to be landing in ___ in approximately ___ minutes from now. I would like to apologise for this delay resulting from circumstances outside of our control. Thank you.

GO-AROUND

Ladies and Gentlemen, once again your captain speaking. As you will have noticed, we have had to abandon our approach into ___ due to windshear/traffic on the runway/fog, resulting in a go-around. We are currently getting established for another approach and will be landing shortly. Thank you.

Making a cabin announcement is rather more than reading what is written in front of you.
If you know enough of the language to read aloud and pronounce correctly what is written, then you're good enough to put one together yourself.

If, of course, you just want to read something in a scandinavian language then by all means use Diesel8's; no-one will understand anyway, or at least not get to hear it for laughing!

Flying Irishman,

I appreciate your effort to inform your passengers, but as mentioned before, you can only make it worse. Even when PAs are in your own native language, it is often hard to understand on bad PAs in a noisy cabin, especially if spoken in a fast, mumbling and/or distorted way.

We Scandinavian normally master at least 2 or 3 languages more or less fluently, many folks even more than that. Having these experiences with multiple languages one often finds that the first part of a sentence means figuring out what language it is. I can understand Irish if you speak slowly adressed to me, but not when you talk Irishman to Irishman. I can just imagine myself an Irishman trying out in Swedish. I agree that the best you can do is to use English. You are not doing this because you want to impress fellow flight or cabin crew, are you?

If you really want to make an effort, try to speak slower, speak a dialect of more common English (not Irish!) and make a pause between words.

By the way, have you ever lilstened to a French ATIS? The ones spoken manually, first in French then in English. Usually the English part is close to useless, because the French cannot leave their pronounciation out of the English, like

"Runway in use, 24" becomes
"Run-way-in, use-two-four"

Do you see the point now?

I appreciate that in normal situations English PA's are enough, however when describing a delay situation it is much appreciated by passengers when they are informed in their local language, that's why I'd appreciate having a set of PA's in several languages. I have some idea on the pronunciation, so don't worry about that.

Does your companys SOP really give room for that?

Assuming you are F/O, what would the commander say (or maybe, you ARE the commander?)

We really are being constructive. You just don't seem to be getting the poit.

An idea of the pronunciation is just not enough!
