Great place..had many happy night stops there. Some good restaurants to go.

Good Hotel: Hyatt Regency Bishkek. Good Casino (!)

There is a american/british consulate in a cafe that does a good cooked breakfast...

If your there more than a few days head off into a yurt Kyrgyzstan. The hotel should be able to organise you something or google a tour...

Travel around in groups during the night. I've always been fine during the day. Stay away from protests etc.

As usual it's what you make of a place... if you decide to stay in the hyatt- well there's a good bar and pizza to be had!

La Cantina, decent Mexican restaurant.

Vis a Vis, fairly good steakhouse

Metro..good bar, run by a Brit Expat

Take a ride up to twelve chimneys, or Ala Archa National park.

Fat Boys is the breakfast place, decent british/american breakfast.

Have fun, people are nice...Hyatt is the place to stay!

Thanks guys for the input. I'll let you know how it turns out. I looked on cheap hotels site in Dubai and the Hyatt is pretty steep for a poor country. Do they have crew rates or anything similar?

Poorer the country, more you have to pay for good western stardard hotel and services...

I was once ( 7 years ago or so...) pretty surprised by a bill for Gin&Tonic at the lobby bar of a good hotel (Regent Ankara then) in Almaty.

Close to 24 euro for shot...

Pretty steep...
