Currently serving?

With only a few weeks left to go to civilian life I just wondered if there were any other currently serving folk posting in here :ok:

Civilians please dont respond and lets see if military folk can keep this thread at the top.............................................:ok::ok:

salad-dodger 8th April 2012 23:11

why

?

zedder 8th April 2012 23:12

Yes, but I've only got a few weeks to go as well!

StopStart 8th April 2012 23:45

Yup but also counting down :}

AllTrimDoubt 8th April 2012 23:52

1007 days...

Hovermonkey 9th April 2012 01:48

1256 and counting

Scuttled 9th April 2012 01:56

5657.

Is it just me and Hovermonkey left then?

JliderPilot 9th April 2012 02:08

200 (and a bit) days to go for me but trying to extend a little bit...

Overall have enjoyed serving but time for pastures new, before I become a grumpy old bugger:O

lj101 9th April 2012 05:56

Still living the dream

Ed Winchester 9th April 2012 06:38

Still digging the escape tunnel.

LoeyDaFrog 9th April 2012 06:56

Almost there....

406 days left (and it can't come quick enough).

Chicken Leg 9th April 2012 07:07

What type of responses are you expecting from your post?

If you're leaving, just leave. If you're expecting a fanfare, you might be disappointed to learn that the military world won't fall apart in your absence.

And neither will the RAF!

TurbineTooHot 9th April 2012 07:43

I think the thrust of the thread is: "Do we have many serving RAF/FAA/AAC etc posters on PPRuNe?"

I've got plenty time yet to serve, and am currently not pi$$ed off with the service in any way.

Hope that helps the research. ;)

In that case you are either a relative newbie looking at the Monkey Tree through rose-tinted spectacles or you are towards the top of the tree and can't see WTF everyone else is seeing

MadMark!!!

MFC_Fly 9th April 2012 08:06

Still serving, but being one of MM's "everyone else" I am waiting to see what 12 June brings.

Capt Niff Naff 9th April 2012 08:19

52 days to go and then I won't be able to post here anymore!

Are you putting money on that?

Maybe my tinted specs have become a little more rosy since I left in 93 but it seems very much like the RAF is well on its way to falling apart in my absence :}

C130 Techie 9th April 2012 08:42

12499 days done. (34 and a bit years)

1182 days to do. (3 and a bit years)

Still relatively happy with my lot.

Joined a very big outfit. Will be leaving a very small one!

fin1012 9th April 2012 08:44

about 4 years left and wondering if I can make it without either going mad or losing it with a superior......

Lima Juliet 9th April 2012 08:52

Just done 8,030 days in the Regulars and I'm now a full-time reservist with up to 7,300 days to go - with a bit of flying thrown in as well (mil and civ reg). :ok:

I must say the commitment for my latter life suits far better as I get into my senior years!

LJ

Sloppy Link 9th April 2012 10:04

About 845 days to go.

recce_FAC 9th April 2012 10:10

Still in, a little less than 3 years to push and enjoying some well earned POTL. I hope civvie street is as much fun as I have had in the army.

Toadstool 9th April 2012 10:57

9271 done, 4405 to do ish. I still love it, although it's not how it used to be. Pension in the bag, or what's left of it after the new pension scheme.

Was rather hoping that no civilians were going to muck the thread up :p:p:p

TurbineTooHot 9th April 2012 13:56

MadMark,

Been in for over a decade and just been lucky to have had a good time of it. Flown a lot, onto my second FJ type, done several ops, what's not to like.....

AED24 9th April 2012 14:04

Still serving, but like others on this thread, not for long, now into my last 6 months.

StopStart 9th April 2012 16:28

Yeah, I left it just a fraction too long for that..... :}

Well this is distressing. I'm devastated to hear there will be no day of mourning on my departure and that the military will continue on without me. Had assumed it would implode and become a desolate wasteland when I left. Perhaps a minute's silence and black armbands for the day is a little more realistic? :hmm:

AARON O'DICKYDIDO 9th April 2012 16:45

You were not supposed to comment on this as you are currently not serving!

Oh! neither am I. Ooops!!!!!

Vortex_Generator 9th April 2012 19:45

13615 done.
222 to go.
Do I get a prize?

Seldomfitforpurpose 9th April 2012 19:50

Get some time in youth, but looks like we joined up not that far apart date wise :ok:

9490 down and 1113 to push, can't really say that I have not enjoyed it, but I think that 2012 is going to be a tough year on all of us in HM Forces. When I get to the 30 year point thats it for me, time to get out the pipe and slippers.

Scuttled 9th April 2012 22:51

......(quiet voice)

I still like it most of the time. It's the people, the quality of the people, that make it worthwhile though. Apart from them, it's all a bit crap at the moment, but I think it will improve soon.

I hope it will anyhow. Are things better elsewhere.......?

TonkaEngO 10th April 2012 06:29

Still serving and not become a wingeing git?

I salute you all. 32 done with 3 to do. Good times have far outweighed the bad - which as a KPI makes me feel that all in all it has been a good decision.

Not Long Here 10th April 2012 06:39

11503 RAF
2374 RNZAF
3104 left and not really counting - a far, far better place :}

Jumping_Jack 10th April 2012 08:36

9490 done, 2555 to do. Still enjoy it (mostly) and like having a new challenge every couple of years on job change. Have seen many parts of the world and sometimes forget how lucky we are to be able to do that. Not all the places have been 'great' but all have been 'great experiences' (especially in hind sight!)

Whenurhappy 10th April 2012 20:02

Into my 27th year (in two Forces) and after a last minue change of heart and the offer of another overseas posting to a cracking job, I'll have about another 5 years to Serve.* It's generally been great but being nibbled to death is getting a bit tiresome - and a bit hard on the pocket.

Challenge over the next few years is to find a civilian job that's as interesting...

* subject to redundancy, of course.

jindabyne 10th April 2012 20:08

I wish that I had only a few days or weeks left to serve :uhoh:

Gnd 11th April 2012 08:51

10900 done, 3700 to do - lets just hope the option is still available in 3000 days!!!!
