Boris flies in Typhoon
The question is... why? he had already got his marching orders, so does he now see the RAF as his plaything before he is gone? I know training has to be maintained etc, but this just seems bad timing as the rest of the UK is tightening its belt. BTW, I thought they had binned all the two seaters?

Tabloid headlines must be "Buffoon in a Typhoon"

More to the point, how did he pass the medical, and where did they get a g suit to fit him? Or did he get a pass as PM and they just trundled him around a bit?
|
This must have been on the cards for a wee while I imagine - That's not the kind of thing that get's pulled together at a couple of weeks notice.
|
Don’t forget he still has cachet in the larger world.

More to the point, how was he allowed to experience AAR as a pax?
|
He is not the first.
|
Watching the video i know there are dual seat Typhoons but why does it look like he's in the front seat.

Poor guy, too late for Top Gun II

Don't they use a clear visor in Tiffies then?

No gloves either

Clear & gloves?!
Surely for canopy manipulation & det cord & bird stike & cockpit fire & command ejection & all other possibilities, visor & gloves are mandatory, or is arrogance & over-assuredness in passengers now tolerated?
|
How do we know it wasn't a sim ride?

To tell the truth, If I became PM a Typhoon ride would be the first thing I organised, not the last!
|
The first batch of 16 T.1 two-seaters were binned, but six T.3s were added later and remain in service.
|
The Eurofighter riding the Eurofighter.
|
Was it target towing ?

294 pounds weight limit for the Mk16A - must have been awfully close with flight kit.

Some here may have forgotten how overwhelming a FJ ride can be for an inexperienced pax. It's perfectly understandable that he forgot to lower his visor.
|
With a lowered vizor nobody would know it was the 'Convict' (Thanks to the Guardian's John Crace for the epitaph).

Couldn't the pilot "accidentally" eject him?
|
No, BuffHoon was not allowed to fly FJ because of a medical issue! |
Any idea which callsign they operated under?
I understand that there might be some appropriate callsigns operating out of Conningsby and I hope someone in Ops employed their sense of humour 3(F) use Chaos, Rampage and Nightmare amongst others 11(F) use Havoc and Tyrant 12 use Vandal, Vermin and Deadpool |
Can't wait to read all the acidic comments about Sunak/Truss/Starmer when their turn comes.

"However, this time, due to the “informal” setting of the flight, the usual protocol was not respected. Instead, the passenger was examined by a doctor four hours before the flight. He was declared apt to participate in the flight, under the condition that he would not be submitted to a negative load factor. That information was not communicated to the pilot. The civilian was already nervous when he entered the cockpit, with his heart rate recorded between 136 and 142 beats per minute. The investigation found that the safety checks of the passenger had been approximate at best. He carried out most of his installation into the cockpit by himself. As a consequence, his visor was up, his anti-g pants were not worn properly, his helmet and oxygen mask were both unattached, and his seat straps were not tight enough." https://www.pprune.org/military-avia...on-rafale.html |
