Also not aviation related but I remember a car that used to cruise around Stamford with the registration XOI108 which seemed innocent enough until read in your rear view mirror!

Teamchief, in the 1980s there was a Porsche registered BOL 10X, I remember seeing it on the A3 while crossing the Hog's Back...

Seen on the M40 near Weston on the Green: PJI1 and near the local shooting club: 12GUN, whilst near Northampton: A51FLY.

I had a sticky patch on the bumper of my Capri 2.8i which said: 'Jet Noise - The Sound of Freedom' - RAF police 'advised me' to take it off.

It's a pity that 'Q' is used for temporary registrations & overseas exports or else there would be a huge market in '???SQN'

Staff carpark at brisbane terminal has a Audi with LOW747 and a small smartcar with E4T M3, another smartcar is painted in The colours of dukes of hazard general lee (looks quite flash)
theres also a bmw with BEAMER and a few months back I parked next to RUP 14A which I presumed might belong to a Garuda employee.
Considering that the authorities charge more than the cost of registration and insurance for personal plates in Queensland one would have to be pretty careless with their cash or have a need to be noticed.

243 RAF was on a Trappers car at Cranditz.

And OGO 2L was on a DBS.

slightly off topic, but a few years ago just off Cheyne Walk alongside the Thames was a property with two cars parked next to each other on the drive, one a Rolls Royce the other an Aston Martin and the number plates were 2B and NOT 2B

Plates are a lot easier in the U.S. Here are two of mine. In the state of Alabama you can get your choice (within limitation) of custom letters/numbers or a specialty plate which might be related to your military service, or some other organization. But unfortunately you can't combine a custom plate with a specialty plate. We even celebrate our invention of the tooth brush. Had it been invented elsewhere it would be called the teeth brush.

Although here you can pay £250 for a specific number, it’s not a very exciting game. You get Jnnnnnn. However, if you have a huge amount of cash to waste, and a small penis, you might be able to acquire at an auction something like Jnn ... which would set you back £nn,nnn.

Father of a friend, some years ago, inherited a car with the number plate '1'. not sure what it would be worth, but I reckon you'd be talking 7 figures just for the plate. I believe the plate was once owned by the first chairman of Trans Australia Airlines.

On the first day of the new "W" registrations all those years ago, went on line to see if W1 WOL had been sold...it hadn't. Got the paperwork somewhere.

When on the staff at Brawdy in the early 90s I bought a used Porsche 944S convertable that came with some sort of 944 plate. One day the studes swopped it front and back with PEN1S...it's a fair cop:D

Nowt to do with aviation, I recall seeing O U 51LLY on a car in Roehampton a few years ago. It did make Oi larf.

I saw a 911 with the reg KN03END adorned with some strategically placed black bolt heads. It would probably have been in 2003/4 but from checking at gov.uk, seems to be bp longer assigned.

That was a genuine plate on a Porsche a few years ago in Hertfortshire, used to often see it around the Royston / Duxford area. However, I think it was PEN15 as opposed to the "S" on the one you mentioned.
