Looks a bit Austin Powers, wonder if the hostesses will have Jerry Halliwell union jack dresses.

They’ll have to sort out what flying badge the Cabin Crew wear first ... https://www.pprune.org/military-avia...ng-badges.html

I'm not sure an A330 could fit inside that hangar. Can someone who has been there more recently than me confirm the hangar height?

A couple of the Korean Air Force MRTT's , were painted in there, within the last couple of years.
Cheers.

From the proportion of the fin, it looks too close to the ground. Is it part of a decoy, made visible with the hangar doors left open on purpose?

Do you really think that they are that clever?

Please don't tell me that it is somehow even more embarrassing than what I just saw.

mommus 25th Jun 2020 05:52

It does amuse me that the kind of people who bemoan this as a huge waste of money and a Boris vanity project are the first to cite other large European nations like Germany as exemplars of progressivism and humility, obviously ignoring the expensive presidential aircraft all these nations have already.

Anyone would think the criticism is being driven by political bigotry rather than logic. Surely not.

esscee 25th Jun 2020 09:03

Whatever colour/scheme on said aircraft, there will be some complaining about it. As it was carried out during a hangar input and the paint scheme added to that then the cost side is reasonable.

Perhaps we need a new flag, I suggest a circle of recessed star shapes where the stars have been removed, with a lone gold star in one of those recess.

It's not part of the RAF tanker fleet, it's one of the "Surge" aircraft in the Air Tanker inventory that has been returned from lease from an airline that went out of business. It needed an interior refit and repaint anyway so why not assign it to the government as a VIP transport? It's not as if that was a new idea. We had a whole fleet of aircraft and two complete RAF Stations dedicated to Royal/VIP transportation when I served back in the 60s/70s. For long-haul overseas diplomacy we'd happily convert two VC10s for Royal or Prime Ministerial trips at the drop of a hat. But of course RAF airmens' labour and paint supplies are free of charge, aren't they?

HAS59 25th Jun 2020 12:37

I do hope that someone will print 'Made in France' on it as part of the paint job.

No, but others do, hence the use of the plural.
Careful, that horse might be a little high for you.

esscee 25th Jun 2020 13:27

For people near Cartoontown, said aircraft is on its way from Cambridge.
