That was quick, Daedalus Mess was, sadly, still there on Friday night. At least the Doom Bar was drinkable.

For those whose hearing has been damaged by loud music through earphones, "Cranwell" pronounced with a regional accent probably sounds a lot like "Cornwall"!

Doom Bar gets my vote!

Well it's better than that Newquay Steam ****e (but not much).

An RAF bomb disposal team – 5131 Squadron – was called from a base in Cambridgeshire to detonate the device.
Those blokes had a long drive. Isn't there a team in Devonport which would have got there quicker?

Pontius Navigator 11th Oct 2018 17:25

TTN, joking aside, it is not the nearest team that is called. For incidents at Wainfleet the RN team came from Portsmouth. For a second our local RAF team did the blow but they should have handed over to the Army. The bombing range was not licenced for demolition of shells.
