RAF considering using unmanned aircraft to complement P-8 Poseidon
It has emerged that the Royal Air Force is considering using unmanned aircraft in a maritime patrol role to complement the P-8 Poseidon.
Air Cdre Ian Gale said at the Royal Aeronautical Society’s UAV conference: “Today we see value in its radar doing maritime patrol alongside the P-8.” The United Kingdom had earlier announced that it intends to place an order for the Certifiable Predator B as part of its Protector MALE UAV programme. https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/raf-...p-8-poseidon/? |
There is an existing P-8 thread.
http://www.pprune.org/military-aviat...oseidon-9.html Considering we are buying the P-8 as an off the shelf system to take advantage of USN R&D, buying Triton seems logical and inevitable. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nort...n_MQ-4C_Triton |
It may be logical,ORAC but at 120 million a pop certainly not inevitable!

That's weird - I just made the same recommendation in the thread about designing a new Maritime Patrol aircraft.
