New Typhoon Display Jet livery.

Now that looks impressive!

Yozzer 22nd Apr 2015 17:25

I am told that the RAF cannot formally introduce this aircraft to the public because of Purdah restrictions. Some things can be taken too far!

The Canadians got in first with their F18; but the Tiffie still looks nice.

Courtney Mil 22nd Apr 2015 17:36

Excellent. For once a really good idea for a colour scheme. No one could argue with that one.

CoffmanStarter 22nd Apr 2015 17:42

PHWOAR! :ok:

NutLoose 22nd Apr 2015 18:10

I am surprised they managed to resist the temptation to stick invasion stripes on it.

Minnie Burner 22nd Apr 2015 18:29

GN Squadron Code

Central Bomber Establishment!!!???

MPN11 22nd Apr 2015 18:42

GN- also used by 249 Sqn. ;)

VX275 22nd Apr 2015 18:43

D Day stripes would be inappropriate as it carries the Sqn code for the Hurricane flown by Nichollson VC . I do hope its visits Boscombe Down in August.

Lima Juliet 22nd Apr 2015 19:11

Just missing a black nose cone to replicate the Hurricane's spinner. Still looks better than the Canadian bird, IMHO...

Lima Juliet 22nd Apr 2015 19:21

I wonder if the Luftwaffe would...

Very good, Leon, especially if you did the graphics!

MAINJAFAD 22nd Apr 2015 19:32

Underside colour should be Sky as well, Leon (I think it has standard Low vis roundels under the wings, though I would be glad to be corrected). However I'll give them the Radome and other aerials as they are 'Do Not Paint' items that don't come in black finish. Excellent effort by the Coningsby painters though.

Willard Whyte 22nd Apr 2015 19:36

Finally, whoever signs these colour schemes off grows a pair of cojones.

BEagle 22nd Apr 2015 19:45

Leon, the Nazi swastika is a banned item in Germany, so your graphic (excellent though it is) would benefit from its deletion.

Otherwise, very nice indeed!

P6 Driver 22nd Apr 2015 20:38

German nationals, or anyone else you would assume to be offended would be well advised to avoid model shows as well as this page!

:ok:

NutLoose 22nd Apr 2015 20:52

Vx275, the BBMF used to have the MK 19's plastered in invasion stripes, something that PS853 in its "Wartime" scheme never had, as it wasn't even built then.

The Tiffie does look good though.

smujsmith 22nd Apr 2015 21:21

What a cracking finish for the Typhoon. Absolutely makes you think of Hurricanes and Spitfires, not to forget the Lancaster as soon as you see it. All we need now is the C130J repainted in "Crud and Custard"

Smudge :ok:

NutLoose 22nd Apr 2015 22:02

Welcome back Smudge, you were missed.

It's got Red, white and blue roundels under the wings, although the proportions look like post war rather than early war

Not me, just linked to a picture by Clavework Graphics (hence the copyright caption on it :ok:).

BEags - there are plenty of ME108, ME109, FW190 and ME262s flying today with Swastikas on the fin. Also the ~60% scale WAR FW190s with an O-200 in them are also similarly painted. The German politicos can moan all they like, but it's all a bit like the name of GuY Gibson's dog - when it comes to history, you can't re-write it!
