Royal Navy Pilot Flying High With Raf Typhoon Squadron
|
Ollie
I'm dead happy for him. He's a great bloke who'll do well without a doubt.
He couldn't have chosen a better squadron either! BV |
Yes, good effort.
Yes I agree, good show. Now he's the sort of chap and aircraft the people need to see at an RNAS Air Day....are you reading this, Commander (Air)?!

He couldn't have chosen a better squadron either!
Or a better shoulder patch ....:ouch: Jack PS And, no, the irony is not lost on me! |
I wonder what Sharkey and Lewis Page will have to say about the good Lt's praise of the Typhoon?

Best of everything young fella!

Good Fortune to Him
In another time/place/era some 30 years ago or so a young A4G pilot went on an exchange tour with the RAAF flying Miracles of the day - the Mirage IIIO. The RAN FAA Fixed Wing Folded at the same time and 'Binny' stayed with the RAAF to go on to bigga and betta fings today, VCDF [Vice Chief Defence Force] today would you believe. Let us hope this young RN chappie has similar good fortune - with exception of RN fixed wing being fuxed. :}
BTW CDF had quite a different meaning in my days in the RAN FAA. :rolleyes: http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...m.gif~original |
It's only the RN/FAA getting ahead of the game for 01 April 2018!

spaz
--- and maybe the next CDF? |
I was thinking the same thing but haven't kept up with the movements
of the top generals etc in the last few years. I wonder if the fact that Angus had it for almost 6 years might weigh against another Air Force person ? |
Vice Chief of the Defence Force (ADF - OzLand)
VCDF Group
"Air Marshal Mark Binskin was born in Sydney in 1960. He joined the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 1984 after an initial period of service with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Air Marshal Binskin's service commenced in May 1978 and on completion of flying training, was posted to fly A-4G Skyhawk aircraft. He served in VC724 and VF805 Squadrons and in January 1982 was selected as the first RAN pilot to undergo an exchange with the Royal Australian Air Force flying Mirage III aircraft. On completion of this exchange and with the disbanding of the Navy's fixed wing capability, he joined the RAAF. ..." "From 04 July 2011 appointment as VCDF for three years" |
Won't be long before we see a member of the Senior Service as part of the 'Reds'! :)

Are they old enough to buy beer? I'm reminded every time I see pics like this that this is a young mans game.

Well I suppose all those FAA fast jet guys have to keep their skills honed somehow since some muppet decided that we didnt need any Naval Fast Jet provision. As the report alluded to, its this or fly US

Do we have any FJ or ship based staff exchanges?
Good on him, and well done. Let's hope he enjoys his flying as the majority of us have over our careers.
I hope that we too have managed to secure a suitable exchange with the RN FAA for our FJ cadre in order to operate in the Fishead environment (staff jobs, as well as flying), as if we are really going to take F-35/Lightening on board the new carriers seriously and safely then we too will need to grow some experience pretty quickly. Or just let the FAA do it :rolleyes: |
MaroonMan,
I hear from colleagues working in the training system that we have. A couple of young post-wings trainees are off for a couple of years as a fishead driving boats around, on a promise of a JCA slot in the future.... |

I would suggest the better sweepstake would be whcih one is likely to PVR first?! If you sent me to drive boats after getting my wings (as an RAF guy) I'd probably want to kill you.
BV:eek::ok: |
I remember a QWI junta member on xxx who did an exchange tour with the wafus and then joined them full time :D nice chap too.
