Not sure, only know the Aussie regs and Commandos are part of the Army here so might be different. |
Got to meet Harry (again) at Campbell's Cove yesterday afternoon - he really seemed to enjoy the atmosphere and he left few disappointed.
I had met him previously in theatre and there were no airs and graces, he was all business and was happy to be spoken to and treated as one of the boys. Glad to see he hasn't lost the common touch. |
A very good spread of photos from the whole trip including the
fireworks in the Daily Mail today. Seems Harry did the UK and the Queen proud again with a visit to the SAS in Perth, back in his fatigues ! (Disregard the title, very few of the photos relate to that). Cressida Bonas 'overcomes fears of marrying into Royal family' as dashing Prince Harry is besieged by crowds | Mail Online |
Wasn't sure about their best blues head dress, don't think they wear the green beret with blues do they? I thought a white topped peaked cap with a red band around it? https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ro...&bih=837&dpr=1 |
It was certainly an interesting uniform and he looked superb taking the salute. Harry is coming into his own within the royals and will be a huge support to his bro' when the time comes. These guys are flying the flag for us like no politician ever could.
|
Harry's beret looks no more ridiculous than an RAF No1 hat on top of a growbag. A bit like a mechanic's overalls with a top hat. Not that it was his choice; dress regs are dress regs.
Good on Capt Wales for doing his bit in all his jobs. |
I noticed he wasn't the only person wearing a White Tropical dress uniform.
One of the Aussie Generals was in a similar uniform, with Harry standing next to him. He is certainly very easy with the public (and media), always giving a wave if he can't be pressing the flesh. |

next to him. That Aussie General in white was the CDF, GEN David Hurley. |

In those pictures of Harry walking through Perth airport, (500N's post, "Cressida etc."), he appears to have a CD or something similar in an inside pocket in the left side of his jacket - or it maybe security stuff.
|
Can't see what you are looking at.
He has something in his Army Trouser pocket in the last few pictures as he is walking out of the airport. The photo has the Para Captain behind him and to his left. Maybe briefing notes ? |

Thought "Quentin" was a male name..........................
|
She is from Queensland and this is Australia,
things get a bit mixed up ! Eclan How come everybody including the Gov't here said that Prince Harry was representing the Queen and it looked in the photos as if Prince Harry took the salute. |
500N - so be it, and good that an Australian is GG.
|
I was having a bit of a dig (joke) at Queensland more than anything.
We don't have too many "dud" one's. They have generally (if not all) done 5 years as a State Govenor General so they should know the ropes by now. Quentin Bryce is a very visible, very traveled GG, some say too much travel but I prefer to see them out and about thank sitting in the ivory tower of GG House. She even went to Afghanistan. |
It's a long time since I left but I thought the new MTP was supposed to be worn "hanging out" and sleeves down, has it changed to "tucked in" and sleeves rolled up ? Genuine question, not a dig.
