NAB,
The key phrase in your reply is "as well" and that sums up the TAG ethos succinctly.

Quite some time ago I spent a great deal of time flying off ships in a helicopter that routinely carried quite a load over quite a distance.

I'm sure the same unit still does so from time-to-time using their carefully modified fleet of highly effective aircraft. Amazing what can be done with a little thinking.

'Amazing what can be done with a little thinking'

...and a shed load of money which UK PLC doesn't have.

Get over it guys. CHF now has Merlin. Is it perfect? No.

Will CHF make the best of the aircraft as they have with the clapped out SK4? Yes.

Heard in the crewroom today "You can't polish a turd, but you can put Royal Navy decals on it"

Alister101 8th Oct 2014 23:42

I've seen pictures of green Merlins with imaging cameras on them, and some merlins without them. Will this be implemented to them all? Is it used to increase the capabilities of the Merlin eg reccie, and who operates the camera, is it the second pilot ?

Pheasant 9th Oct 2014 09:10

Which Merlins have deployed with RFA Argus?

Not_a_boffin 9th Oct 2014 09:31

3 stripped out grey cabs from 820.

Shows the limitations of the interim HC3. Need 4/4A sharpish.

Aynayda Pizaqvick 9th Oct 2014 20:37

Ah, surely it more accurately shows that there aren't any interim Mk3s yet, or they would probably be on their way!

WhiteOvies 9th Oct 2014 21:47

They're not interim Mk3 yet, need a few mods first! Hence why the Mk 2s have been sent.

Tourist 10th Oct 2014 13:53

I'm not sure why many on here think that the Mk2 is unsuitable as a first choice?

Not_a_boffin 10th Oct 2014 14:47

Nothing wrong with the grey cabs per se and if you can't fold the head and tail, then it's not living easily on Argus. Had forgotten the interim was the "spare" eight folding heads on Mk3s.

I think it's probably to do with lifting potential Ebola cases on stretchers shoulder high to get them in the door, as opposed to walking up a ramp. Not a case of suitable / unsuitable, more which is going to be less of an embu88erance.

Not a Boffin
NAF = Nigerian Air Force
Exactly my point!!!!!
