Singleton Merlin

It was the only one serviceable that day................in the UK!!!!!

BEagle 9th May 2011 12:47

Yes, nice looking English countryside!

Pity about those ugly clattering things in the foreground though....

:p

Unchecked 9th May 2011 17:52

Good catch mate - could never describe the 3A as beauty though!

Seldomfitforpurpose 9th May 2011 20:22

Bet there are one or two dark blue folk looking on in envy :E

Was that before or after the main cabin door was removed so that it sat in the open at Abingdon through two nights of pouring rain with the cabin open to the elements?

TheWizard 9th May 2011 21:39

Quick call the meedja

"Aircraft gets rain water inside cabin shocker"

Torque limited 9th May 2011 22:19

Why?

Rarelyfit - why would the dark blue be looking on in envy? They'll all be transferred across in a few years anyway (unless they keep getting written off...)

It looked fine to me when I had a poke around it with the masses on Sunday. Mind you, it did fly back to Benson with the ramp down - were they trying to dry it out?

Alex - whereabouts on SPTA do you take your pics? Is it around Everleigh?

Grabbers 11th May 2011 14:03

Deptford Down?

jamesdevice 11th May 2011 14:17

well its not the stripey black and green one that was doing landing/ liftoff / hover tests at Westlands a couple of weeks ago, so there must be more than one flyable in the UK! Mind you it looked a bit shakey as it came in over Bunford Lane each time

Vortex81 11th May 2011 14:58

Well obviously there's more than one flyable Merlin in the UK.

jamesdevice 11th May 2011 15:07

why obviously? With the serviceability problems you could quite easily run out of them if all the good ones were on active service overseas.

Alex Lovell 11th May 2011 15:16

They were taken near to Eveleigh - thanks for all the comments

high spirits 11th May 2011 15:34

Alex, good shots fella. Serviceability has improved much of late for all of the doom mongers.
