Re the Hawk adorned "4 FTS - 50 Years"
Do the Welsh do the same maths as us? I ask because 4 FTS was at RAF Heany in S. Rhodesia when I was there nearly 60-years ago. |
Can't see the photos.. Trev |
How do you get to go to this event? It would've been very cool to see.
Alex. |
Eh  This looks very much like something we used to call fen. No, not fen. Fin? Not that either. Fun. That's it - fun. How'd that happen. Well done Station Commander. :ok:

4FTS 50 Years
I think it's supposed to represent 50 years of 4FTS ... at RAF Valley. Re-formed there in 1960.

Nobody has said it yet (possibly stating the bŁeeding obvious) so I will - cracking photos 7of9, thanks.

"Warmtoast" says 4FTS was based at Heany in Rhodesia.
According to my late father's log book in an entry at the end of January 1943 28 EFTS were based there with Tiger Moths. Great pics though :D:D |
Nice of the ex RAF Netjets crew to appear in the photos too
:) |
Hard Bernard's correct about the 50th/4 FTS connection.
There is a practical reason behind the running of these events; they're all geared towards raising funds for the restoration of Building 27, the Battle of Britain Sector Z Ops Room. Hope no-one minds me posting a link to a piece we ran on the event today: Global Aviation Resource |
Hard Bernard's correct about the 50th/4 FTS connection rogerk 4 FTS reformed at Heany in Southern Rhodesian on February 1947 |
Nice green tape on "the Fin" - I learned (after 1000hrs on type) from an old hand, who was an early German Panavia mate, that rotating the handle on the canopy handle, whilst closing it, inflates the seal from residual pressure. I never used tape again after that (and never got a wet arse again, as well!).
I guess that piece of corporate knowledge has been lost on the 4th or 5th generation of Tornado crews (I was 2nd generation)??? - even these ones from the FJOEU! LJ :ok: |

A109 with Mr Goodman at the controls...is the Algerian contract still going?:}

It's Not Working

BigGreenGilbert It's not that hard when soemone parks the subject right in front of you like that is it. Some of them aren't as sharp as they should be either. Sorry KarlADrage, Nice article, Brian said you were there & I did look out for you & missed you somehow. Cheers Trev |
Thanks for posting the shots:ok: The Hawk pic looks great.
Were some of them a bit blurry...probably. Could I do as well......................Not even close, nor could I suggest how to improve them! So, thanks for posting the pics. I would like to see more:ok::ok: The one thing that really stood out for me was looking at the Chinook. Every time I see a radome like that, it reminds me of the old British Airways aircraft! |
