airbpmd80,

I think the blue top to the fuselage was added to a number of JP's at Finningley that were used for a solo aerobatic display which 6 FTS toured around the display circuit at the time.
I think the Red Bird on the fin was either a part of the display livery or was a squadron badge for the Low Level and Air Defence Training Squadron, which was the squadron that operated the JP within No.6 FTS.

As to who had the last JP in the RAF, not sure of it was Finningley or Church Fenton with the refresher flying mob, but I am sure it was one of them.

Shackman,

This was the Finningley based 6 FTS which from 1970 to 1992 provided all Nav, Eng, AEO, ALM and multi-pilot training, and not the real 6 FTS to which you allude............

Just to clarify - 6FTS at Finningley, at least from the mid 1985 onwards, flew the Mk 5 and 5a.

Probably explains the nice dent in the leading edge left wing (unless you caught it elswhere)

Great a/c I love it, the wife, not so much...18 month old son-soon!

Thanks all for the info and insights. I think I enjoy the history as much as the plane itself. :ok:
