What a F***ing Idiot!

There are old pilots, and there are bold pilots. There are NO old bold pilots.

One rather terrified Nav I would imagine.............................

cornish-stormrider 20th Mar 2009 09:23

That is doctored. there is no way that is real............ the wingtip vortex would be very different that close to the ground.

and the rear cockpit would be full of a brown liquid,

taffair traff 20th Mar 2009 09:33

Low flying !

....................and to think another pilot in the news has been seen to endanger his aircraft and passengers. Paradox?

Ten West 20th Mar 2009 09:38

+1 for Photoshop. :ok:

I would guess that there would be an awful lot more s**t and dust thrown up behind it if it were really flying like that.

Striking looking picture though.

A2QFI 20th Mar 2009 09:42

Where are the pylons etc? Photoshop gets my vote.

ftrplt_fr 20th Mar 2009 09:55

Not sure about a doctored picture. If the aircraft flew right above the runway, there could be no dust at all. There is no doubt that some bold pilot could have done such a risky maneuver, even if his WSO was calling out loud for his mummy...

taffair traff 20th Mar 2009 10:25

If the picture has been "doctored" I'd love to know how the heat shimmer was "created" along the tree-line behind !!

Load Toad 20th Mar 2009 10:59

The picture doesn't look right to me though I know **** all about wing tip vortices....the smudged trees under the fuselage and the direction of the sun on the plane compared to the pylon thing - it doesn't look natural. Looks good though.

green granite 20th Mar 2009 11:08

I don't think I would be standing there calmly taking that photo, if it was real I'd be running like f**k.

Easily done in Photoshop - read this article

barnstormer1968 20th Mar 2009 11:49

Although the aircraft is clearly turning to port, it also looks as though it is climbing, which would mean it must have been lower.
While I realise it may have turned after it started to climb it does look not quite right.
As I'm not a flyer, can anyone more in the know, tell me if the left wing would be happy being pushed that close to the ground, and what effect would it have on lift/directional stability.

forget 20th Mar 2009 12:32

The only interesting point here is that some people think it's real.

Kitbag 20th Mar 2009 13:56

No Laser, FLIR fairings, pylons not fitted, looks like a conical aerial just behind the cockpit makes me think its Italian, so yes it could be real.
I recall watching and holding my breath at a 1980's airshow (Mildenhall?)when an A10 did a very similar manoeuvre following a low slow pass.

forget 20th Mar 2009 14:31

........ so yes it could be real.
But it isn't. Take a look at the careful circular swirls in the dust wake. If that doesn't do it, see the dust wake in front of the number which should be well behind the number.

Thanks for the reference. Guess it is back to my colouring book!!!:ouch:

Ten points to that man! :ok:
Didn't spot that myself - it's Italian too; it has a shark's mouth. :)

Benjybh 20th Mar 2009 15:42

Equalising it in Photoshop shows where the image has been cut out: Compare the colour and roughness of the edge around the Tornado to that of the treeline (similar contrast).

Nice try though :}

JackRyan 20th Mar 2009 15:58

If you've seen any French flying videos you'd also know that Tornado is a few feet too high
