Gordon Brown's utter disdain for the Armed Forces

Did anyone else see the performance by Gordon Brown on Sky news at about 0930 this morning.

He was being interviewed to give his reaction to the tragic murder of the 2 soldiers in Ireland last night. He said the usual "sincere" how sad and our thoughts are with the families. At the end of the piece the camera was obviously not switched off quickly enough for him. He was heard to say "yes that was better", smiled and started to walk off. Later repeats of the piece cut off earler.

I am afraid this makes my blood boil, as it shows that he is only interested in saying the right thing for public consumption - I am sure I really would not want to know his true feelings. The sooner we get rid of this clown the better. What is he "good" at, and again what are his true feelings towards the armed forces? The man is a disaster for the armed forces and the country at large.

Finally may the 2 guys rest in peace - and I AM sincere.

He's a politician - seriously, what do you expect?

cazatou 8th Mar 2009 11:03

DB 6

Mrs T personally wrote to the Next of Kin of ALL British personnel killed during the Falklands campaign.

I mean wrote - not a standard letter with a different name inserted.

You also have to ask WHY Sky is not showing him in his true colours.......

VinRouge 8th Mar 2009 11:45

Dont worry; the one-eyed **** will be displaced by his party in the run up to the next election.

Not a big fan of the daily hate, but today's edition has a good article bringing into question the mental state of our illustrious money-printer. :hmm:

Apologise for the recession? Brown's credit crunch tantrum at 30,000ft | Mail Online

A tale I heard recently:

US interviewer: "So, whaddya think about us havin' a black president?"

Brit interviewee: "You should count yourselves lucky!"

US interviewer: "Whaddya mean?"

Brit interviewee: "Well, you have an elected black president - whereas we have an unelected brown prime minister!"

Avitor 8th Mar 2009 12:19

He has just stated that...... "We will not allow terrorists to kill our people and to derail the peace process"

Sorry Gordon, you just have. You began the process when your government released all IRA killers on to the streets.

Utrinque Apparatus 8th Mar 2009 12:21

He is clearly incompetent, insincere and for all his bluster about his "moral compass" and "prudence", he is the biggest liar of them all with only his power crazed ego to comfort him.

enginesuck 8th Mar 2009 12:33

Dont believe a word the man says, Ive just finished reading Alistair Campbells diaries from when he worked for Blair, everything a Prime minister says in public is written for them for maximum positive publicity.

Strobin Purple 8th Mar 2009 13:04

Mac.....

Don't read it then.

Seriously, why are there people who, even in the virtual world, want to moderate other people's innocent pleasures such as railing against this incompetent govt. You should rejoice in the free speech enabled by this technology that allows disgruntled citizenry the oppportunity to slag off the PM and his cronies, at every moment. Regardless of whether it is in the correct category. I bet you've got a clipbpoard and work for the council.

cazatou 8th Mar 2009 13:09

Flt Lt Mac

Given that the Person being referred to is the Person who decides where HM's Armed Forces are deployed and what equipment can be provided for them - I would put it to you that his attitude towards the Armed Forces is a matter of legitimate concern to all serving Personnel and their Families.

Letting off steam on Pprune may help but if you really care about your government the best thing you can do today, if you haven't already, is register to vote;

Member of the Armed Forces (or husband, wife, civil partner) - About my vote, produced by The Electoral Commission

cazatou 8th Mar 2009 15:58

Aeronut

Sound advice - however, although I am taxed in UK by HMG, I do not have the right to vote in UK because I am resident in France. My Wife, having been in Education, has the same problem as HMG reserve the right to tax "Government Pensions" in UK no matter where in the world you are resident.

Taxation without representation - didn't we lose some Colonies over that?

Frelon 8th Mar 2009 16:54

Cazatou

I am sure that you are able to register to vote in the UK, despite living in France.

Have a look here.

davejb 8th Mar 2009 17:37

You don't want to go voting for politicians,
it encourages them you know!

Aeronut 8th Mar 2009 17:57

Catazou, the advice was not specifically aimed at you, but everyone that can vote. It seems you might be able to after all.

Incidentally, having turned your back on the UK to live in France how could you expect to retain a vote here?

Biggus 8th Mar 2009 18:13

He hasn't turned his back on UK......he is just being a European first and Briton second, as all the EU leaders generally profess to want us to be, and as such is entitled to live anywhere in the EU.

In the same way that I am a (agile, adaptable, deployable) warfighter first, officer second and aircrew a lowly third.....

spheroid 8th Mar 2009 18:18

If you think that being an Officer comes second then you are in the wrong job

Aeronut 8th Mar 2009 18:22

European first, Briton second = back fairly and squarely turned on UK

Turncoat !
